*sighs*I don't. McCain's recent political maneuvering has left me very disturbed. I always thought he was more than meets the eye and his kissing up to the hardline right-wing as of late only confirms his wishy-washy nature.
Yeah. I lost hope for McCain when I saw this picture of him embracing Bush:

"He had won the battle over himself."
Since then, he's earned back some respect points in my book, mostly by virtue of his steadfast opposition to torture. If he ran as an independent, I might vote for him, but it will be a cold day in hell before I vote Republican again.

If you check McCain's voting record, he's almost always in favor of whatever the far right has put up there...on a few occasions he's broken ranks with "loyal" Republicans and has gotten a lot of publicity for it (should tell you something about the state of politics when an individual publicly disagreeing with his party's stance on something is front-page news...), but make no mistake, he's no pseudo-Independent.jp wrote:I think he just realized what his only chance of getting a shot at the office was...
Kanye West:

I hate Kanye West btw, but I think it's good what he said.
That and his campaign finance law is *cough*bullshit*cough*.BulletMagnet wrote:If you check McCain's voting record, he's almost always in favor of whatever the far right has put up there...on a few occasions he's broken ranks with "loyal" Republicans and has gotten a lot of publicity for it (should tell you something about the state of politics when an individual publicly disagreeing with his party's stance on something is front-page news...), but make no mistake, he's no pseudo-Independent.jp wrote:I think he just realized what his only chance of getting a shot at the office was...

I have mixed thoughts on this. Being a liberal, I believe people should not fear their government; governments should fear their people. (quoth V for Vendetta) It is morally wrong to have the ability to legally eavesdrop on peoples' private conversations, and get away with it. However, unless you have something to hide, regarding a threat to national security, why would you be worried so much about it? Still, Bush is a complete asshat, and if that twig-boy doesn't eventually snipe him down, you can bet the Zweihander will. ...Oh snap, teh FBIs are comin for meeeee.

aside from the myriad other things some one might have to hide. I personally am worried because it represents a clear atrophy of my 4th ammendment right to privacy.Zweihander wrote: However, unless you have something to hide, regarding a threat to national security, why would you be worried so much about it?
