Coffee vs. Tea vs. Cola vs. Guarana vs. Mate
COFFEE or TEA or COLA or GUARANA or MATE

Non-caffienated beverages don't count. Although I daresay guarana isn't really a beverage either.
Personally, I voted for coffee. Nothing like good 'ol coffee. I enjoy a shot of espresso or whatnot what I'm in the mood, but truthfully I prefer the taste of plain old weak, black American coffee.

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.

Chocolate milk = Cocoa = stimulant. Therefore this thread deems chocolate milk a valid alternative lifestyle choice.benj wrote:If chocolate milk doesn't count, this thread is doomed to fail.
And I won't shed a tear for it.

the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..
You have a lot of anger in you dude.iatneH wrote:When I imagine how I'm going to kick the crap out of that guy I hate, yeah I could stay up all night. No other stimulants needed.
In my situation it's sometimes necessary to stay awake up to like 36 hours at a time, so I drink coffee. I find it's the most...stimulating? among the choices that I've tried, especially with all the sugar you have to add so it isn't entirely disgusting.
Still nasty stuff, ruins the teeth, I'll quit after grad school.
edit - I actually haven't tried guarana or yerba mate...I heard there's this one plant that's totally legal and if you lick it you trip balls for 15 minutes but it feels like two hours...true?
I hope you manage to, life doesn´t exactly get less demanding at work. Last time I tried to quit was during Christmas holidays, well I managed a month without coffee and haven´t come back to more than 2 cups a day, but staying without any is really hard.Still nasty stuff, ruins the teeth, I'll quit after grad school.
Guarana is simply caffein in another form, dissolves more slowly in the body, supposedly being more healthy that way, but also less effective when you´re really tired.edit - I actually haven't tried guarana or yerba mate...I heard there's this one plant that's totally legal and if you lick it you trip balls for 15 minutes but it feels like two hours...true?
There are plenty of plant drugs growing out in the wild, just read a book and try to find them. I used to experiment a lot with these as a teenager, but it sure is dangerous, because there´s no such thing as a safe dosage, and sometimes plants look similar, but have entirely different effects, some of which can even be deadly.

Ahhh... stimulants.
I used to smoke a pack a day, but I've managed to kick the habit entirely. I've saved so much money!
I'm still addicted to Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper. I used to drink them constantly... I can kill a 12 pack in one day, if I don't watch myself. Nowadays, I drink 4-6; I've been substituting them with green tea due to reflux concerns.

Soda drinkers beware:

Sounds a bit like salvia divinorum, although you have to either chew it or smoke it. And yes, it is true, though not exactly what you'd call 'fun'.. it's more similar to taking DMT or something like that.edit - I actually haven't tried guarana or yerba mate...I heard there's this one plant that's totally legal and if you lick it you trip balls for 15 minutes but it feels like two hours...true?

I used to drink tea instead of coffee because I believed that the former was the more healthy option. But lately there has been so much good news about the health benefits of coffee consumption that I have turned to coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon.
Note that the health benefits of coffee may be outweighed by the costs if you do not use a filter in making the coffee. In the US we typically make coffee by drip through a filter, which captures the bad stuff.
Those who are drinking sodas instead of coffee or tea should seriously consider switching, if you're concerned about your health. Studies suggest that the health benefits of coffee and tea are not benefits of sodas. Partly this is to be explained by the great number of anti-oxidants in the former. Excellent stuff, those anti-oxidants (also present in red wine, dried fruit, dark chocolate... basically all my favorite stuff).
Coffee is usually too strong for later in the day because it often keeps me up past 1am and that's not good because I always wake up by 7:30am no matter when I go to sleep.

how is this topic different from the "favourite shmup bullet colour and air freshener" topic which got locked?

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Stash's Sushi Bar Green Tea is the best nationally available green tea I've found so far.Jon wrote:Green tea all the way. Its an aquired taste but certainly a better option than soda or coffee.
I put down "none" because for the most part, such things tend to cause me more problems than they solve. I've been an insomniac for as long as I can remember, and I find that caffeine is far more likely to keep me up when I'm trying to sleep than it is to help me stay awake when needed. I do drink Coke on occasion, but generally limit it to when sleeping in the next morning to catch up isn't going to be a problem.
I like green tea, but not for the caffeine. I like Coke and Pepsi, especially the citrus-tinged ones I used to get a couple years ago. But if a winner shall be declared, then the winner must be black coffee. The only valid accessory is ice, on a hot day.
