Gamecube Gameboy Player system link

I am wondering if I had 2 gamecube gameboy players and 2 carts of the legend of four swords would I be able to link the 2 gameboy players so 2 people could play on 2 different tvs?

Has anyone tried this?

I see nintendo setup guide says not to link 2 gameboy players but I cannot see why it would not work.

Nintendo World Report has a GameCube FAQ from 2003 that says you can link multiple GBPs together, and this Angelfire page from who knows when suggests that there really wasn't any stated reason why you shouldn't link two or more GBPs.

That's weird. Not sure what the problem would be.

I tried this back in the day with FF Crystal Chronicles, it worked just fine. I had the map on a second tv for my friends to see, made communication a lot easier.
