THIS is how you play shmups on Nintendo Switch
Check it out, this is me using my padhacked Nintendo Pro controller with one of my extra arcade sticks. The cool thing is I now have a pretty mobile shmup setup that is actually playable. Obviously you would look insane with this on a bus, but you can throw the stick in a backpack for traveling and stuff like that. The wireless aspect is what really makes it work without being a total pain.

P.S. Shmuparch on Switch is coming soon, I just need to wait till the Switch Overclock is released because that is going to massively change (and improve) the build configuration.

The screen is small enough to integrate it into the stick

When you ruin some enemy, add to score points.

Nice setup, personally I would like a tate screen mount, something like a music stand attached to the box, like on a keyboard.

That's a great idea! It could be cool if you could find something collapse-able for travel and stuff.DialKnight wrote:Nice setup, personally I would like a tate screen mount, something like a music stand attached to the box, like on a keyboard.

The Flip Grip shipping date is mid December.Mark_MSX wrote:

Another option for connecting wired/wireless arcade sticks or controllers to Switch is the Mayflash Magic NS which can be used in portable mode.

Shame the usb C port is obscured by the Flip Grip otherwise it would be a nice off the shelf tate and stick option.

Good to know! It's also too bad the hori joycon isn't wireless, i don't think it will work with the flipgrip, right?pcb_revival wrote:The Flip Grip shipping date is mid December.Mark_MSX wrote:

^ You can always mod a regular joycon to feature a d pad. There is plenty of information around.
I should also add the official Switch Hori RAP wired arcade stick can be used in portable mode with a compatible usb C adaptor.

I have that mod on my official joycon, it s not too bad but doesn't control as well as the hori. That s how I feel anyway.

I'm sure a hot knife can clear the way right?pcb_revival wrote:

I guess to use the Flip Grip as a stand only with access to the usb C port, then the easiest way is to pack out the bottom of the Grip with a spacer so the Switch does not sit all the way home. Other than that a revised model.DialKnight wrote:

What about the NES/Famicom joycons.Mark_MSX wrote:

Currently, those only work with the NES games via Switch Online, according to this article:

Something like this might work, though:
