Emerson EWL20S5B LCD EDTV

Post by GumballBunny »

Wanted to give a sort of review or more accurate a shout to this 20 Inch tv I picked up off facebook.
The Emerson EWL20S5B. It supports 240p through component, 480p and I'm not sure if it supports 720p or not but I don't think it does.
The picture quality is pretty good considering it's age and despite being an older LCD Ghosting is pretty minimal. I honestly don't notice it.
Even tho the picture quality is pretty good in my opinion the over all image is a little soft even with sharpness turned up.
Now of course the most important thing when talking about retro games how ever is the input delay.
Suffice it to say If it has any it must be pretty damn low. I tested next to my crt and I couldn't feel a difference.
I tested the manual lag test with 240p test suite and never missed. Everything feels responsive, quick, and smooth. Games like Contra III feel perfect.
Here are some pictures I took. To be fair it looks far better in person. Also when you stick your face up too it you can see vertical dark lines going through it.
But you can only see the when you're about 5 inches from the screen. Sitting with my face 2 feet away it looks just fine. My other LCD EDTV was the same way.
