Zed Blade MVS, worth picking up?

Post by neorichieb1971 »

I saw this for sale, it had what looked like shmup gameplay, Ive never heard of it.. Does anyone have any info on it?
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I've played the Arcade version of Zedblade Operation Ragnarok, and I can say that it takes some getting used to. It's fun as a Shmup, and the music is a decent techno-rock mix....not to mention it's 2 Player...

But OMG is it hard....The Valkyrie boss is crazy...
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

I own an MVS cart of it.

It's rather standard 16-bit side-scrolling faire. Very reminiscent in style to many of the earlier MD and PC-E horzies. Compitent graphics, a solid sountrack and straight-forward gameplay.

Just out of curiosity, would anyone be interested in a Neo Geo Shooting Special? I'm 2 shmups away from having all 15 and was inspired by Yakumo's Retro Core Saturn Shooting Special. I think that 3 to 4 minutes on each game would be plenty (maybe less for Ghost Pilots and Andro Dunos).

Yes, definitely. :D

I'm especially interested to see the latter stages of Viewpoint or Pulstar.

Kiken that would be awesome!

That's one thing I really like about you the most, you rock at shmups, but still really nice to help out us common folks.. :)

BTW, I was also wondering what happened to your website... I tried checking one or two days ago and couldn't connect...

Zed Blade does look kind of textbook in comparison to other Neo shooters- but it's decent, playing somewhat like a vertical game turned on its side rather than the usual horizontal. Santaruru's soundtrack pushes ZB above average. It beats Brikin'ger by a long shot, I think.
Kinect? KIN NOT.
