Magic Sword Floor 1 warp?

Magic Sword Floor 1 warp?
I've seen people trigger this warp, but I can't for the life of me get it to show up. There is a faq on Gamefaqs that tells you to make it to the first door and then backtrack but it never appears for me? Anyone can help me please? It's driving me crazy.
