ok as i've been playing a lot of megadrive shmups recently i've discovered the fact that many shmups from this era defaulted on an 'easy' setting. 1ccs usually are done on default settings. should i therefore take this 'easy' setting as interchangable with a 'normal' setting in modern games and just moving everything up one? for example in the gynoug/wings of wor manual it lists the difficulties as normal, hard and very hard, and yet the game lists them as easy, normal, and hard.
i managed to 1cc the first loop of fire shark last night on all default settings, and i'd add this to my list of completions (no real reason i know, and i'm aware it's just bragging rights etc) but what are your opinions on the matter? oh and the second loop of fire shark is a bitch!

There are exceptions, though - Raiden Project, for example. I tend to play Fire Shark (Gen) on hard as well, because it's still easier than the arcade even on hard.

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.

If you really feel you like game, try playing with it on HARD now.
BTW, plase post your scores here.

If you still like it after finishing Hard, consider the PCB.

Well a Japanese version Fire Shark (same!same!same!) costs $$$, but if you could satisfied with American/European version, you should be able to acquire one used at around $70.sjewkestheloon wrote:well to be honest i was pricing up same!same!same! the other day as a possible first pcb but that means taking the dive into serious prices and i'm still on a shitty wage...

I use turbo fire when i play all the time unless i need to turn it off for a charge shot. I don't really use it out of anything other than controller preservation though. I haven't had much luck with controllers in my lifetime... only on my pc controllers though. I actually despise 3rd party console controllers. Ugh... they are always so gawdy and cheap.
