And my first thought was.....
HOLY CRAP THAT IS AWESOME!! I will post this on Shmups forum.
So without further ado.....I present this.....

So I was browsing on YTMND.com when I saw this
If there is a God, it's a bit ironic He uses Jupiter to stop most major collisions with earth ^_^undamned wrote:It shows how beautifully our planet survives close encounters w/ other satelites (not electronic ones). And of course it's totally by chance *insert a galaxy of sarcasm here*.

I have to wonder at the sizes of these 'satellites,' seems like it'd be in the news if a giant fucking dinosaur-extincting meteor was close to colliding. This is more of a shock thing than a big deal in my admittedly under-informed opinion.
Earth has been hit in the past, though. Small objects in particular are pretty frequent (ever watched a meteor shower?).undamned wrote:It shows how beautifully our planet survives close encounters w/ other satelites (not electronic ones). And at 20 million km (in a three dimensional space, mind you, which this doesn't show well at all) with most of these objects being quite small and the Earth hardly being a giant itself, and with Jupiter getting the brunt of things since it's so massive, why is it a huge surprise? It's like standing in the middle of a field with a single mosquito in it, closing your eyes and firing a gun 500 times in random directions. Your chances of hitting the mosquito are still extremely slim.
But yeah, must be God, etc.
