Sony BVM D24E1WE Won't Turn On

Post by crtgamer »

Hi all I have just bought a Sony BVM D24E1WE and It has just arrived today the seller that I bought it off said it was working and he sent me photos of it working before he sent it. I spent hours setting it up and I plugged it in and turned it on for the first time and nothing It won't turn on at all  it makes the normal click sound when you turn the power switch on and it makes the click sound when I turn it off. on the front of the BVM the lights don't light up at all the standby light should light up when I turn the power switch on but no lights turn on. I can see inside the BVM there is one green light lit up on the power adapter so I don't know what the issue is I have removed all the modules and plugged them back in and still nothing happens the BKM-10R won't light up or do anything. have any of you had this issue with a Sony BVM before? I have a Sony BVM 20F1E that works should I try changing the power module with the working one from my BVM 20F1E or will that damage my working power module?

The power modules are different on 20F1E - don't try putting that in. I had a similar idea, but was told that would kill my D24.

Thanks for your reply I live in New Zealand I imported The Sony BVM from London. I asked Stephen Pat and he said don't try using my other power module. Pat thinks issue is in the power module or the other modules beside the power module so I don't know exactly what one is broken or where I can get replacement modules for it. When I turn on the BVM It makes the normal click sound but no light turn on but inside the bvm there is a green light that turns on it is part of the power module dose that mean the power module is working or could it still be broken? Anyway if all the modules are working could something else inside the Sony BVM become disconnect during the shipping? anyway let me know what you think the issue could be?

Have someone recap the power module. no need to buy a new one. if it still fails recap the deflection module as well.

PS: the power module can still be broken even if the power light is lit or flashing. I had the same behaviour with a broken power module on mine.
good luck

Thanks I will send it to Pat and get it recapped I hope this will fix it. When you had this issue did the power or standby light on the front of the BVM light up? because the standby light at the front of mine won't light up at all when I turn on the power switch

Silly question, but did you also remove the whole power supply when you were re-seating the other modules?

Yes I completely removed the power supply and the module beside it. I didn't completely unplug the Video Process Module or the Deflection Module because I need to unplug a lot of cables to take it out completely. Do you think If I completely removed and plug them back in That will fix it? also is there a guide on removing these modules I don't want to Break anything when trying this

I had the same issue. I used needle nose pliers at the end.

Yes, you wouldn't want to damage the black wire ;)
