Thanks indeed. Those lists have always helped me choosing a good shmup to play.

I really wanted to take part in the voting, but I don't have enough experience under my belt to do it.

I should really focus on 1cc'ing some shmups I like instead of fucking around with several titles.

to me it seems like the forum is dying. a lot of the members (players) still exist but don't use forums anymore and I think newer(younger) folks across most interests are getting less and less interested in forums.

Expect worse turnouts every year maybe to the degree that it's not worth the effort to run anymore.

I think it's dying since CAVE stopped putting out yearly releases. I mean, that brought a lot of excitement to the page.
This is "shmups forum", and when almost no shmups come out, it's bound to hurt it. Old games get a lot of talk, but talk about new releases really brings people here.

That being said, the Hardware Forum has really turned into something. I don't know the numbers, but I'd hope that it has picked up the slack for some other parts of the forum.

I didn't vote this year. I missed the window. I had written up a list, and then realized I did the the numbering wrong (I still hate that shit), and was going to "get back to it". Which I didn't.
I'm looking forward to seeing the list though.

I think you guys are being to harsh to the newcomer. CAVE is very prevalent these days (I'm not saying that there's not a good reason for this) and if you don't enjoy their games, you are having a hard time here. If the dude will keep playing shmups, eventually some CAVE games might click with him as well, but he's probably just really fresh to the genre (literally registered this month).

I like the top 25 as they are, but tbh there hasn't been too much variety during the past few years. It's always the same titles more or less. I don't find this interesting anymore.

Looking at Klabauter8's list, he actually does seem to like some CAVE games. Very well-balanced list overall as well.

I'd recommend to never feel empathy for the trolls from that place anyway, not even by mistake, they've covered this community and pretty much every name here including yours in insults, nonstop for I don't even know how many years, and I guarantee they enjoy it.
I unable to welcome anyone mimicing 4chan/shmupg/ 's absurd hostility, that place is insanely toxic like most of 4chan anyway.

Rather yes there's a lot of Cave again this year but it's always been like that, hasn't it?
I don't think we need to repeat the same argument every year, obviously the Top won't change much as long as there aren't enough new great productions to take over the usual title's popularity.
Though I wonder how the angry-at-Cave would react if Cave announced resuming shooters development? Imagine: more Cave, the horror.
