So I wonder if anyone here might be able to shed some light on this. Ever since I got my model 1 Mega Drive, it refuses to play Pier Solar, and will display a red screen indefinitely right after the license message. Even resetting just causes it to crash again right after the license message. Weirdly enough, this only happens when my Mega Drive has the Mega CD attached, when it's detached, the game runs perfectly fine. My model 1 is a VA6 PAL, but switchless region modded and with a dual-frequency oscillator. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Having problems with Pier Solar
I don't actually know what the problem is; however, considering this from the Pier Solar website:
To me, the wording "you can enhance" sounds like that the game not finding the soundtrack CD would simply mean the game would proceed without the enhanced audio, as if the Mega-CD wasn't connected to begin with; but it would not at all surprise me if they overlooked this Mega-CD-but-no-soundtrack use case.
Is it possible that the game is throwing an error because it is detecting the Mega-CD but not the soundtrack CD? I would download the CD from their site, burn it, and try loading the game with the soundtrack ready in the Mega-CD to see if it loads then.By using the Mega-CD/Sega CD add-on for the Mega Drive/Genesis, you can enhance your Pier Solar gaming experience with the hi-fi soundtrack and ambient sound effects of the optional Enhanced Soundtrack Disc, which creates a richer atmosphere with stronger emotion. WaterMelon did what SEGA should have done!

Re: Having problems with Pier Solar
I am aware of this, and this happens regardless of whether the soundtrack CD is present or not. As I said before, it seems to work just fine on my model 2, just not my model 1.
