When I first heard of this, I scoffed. I have so many versions of Tetris I don't know what to do with them all. Silly Nintendo, making yet ANOTHER one. Beating a dead horse and what not.
I picked it up yesterday because of the "hype".
I was wrong and am a fool... this is the definitive version of Tetris. Holy crap this game is so fucking awesome.

I found the Inf. Rotation wierd. I thought it was more like the original. I can clear 130 (I think thats the highest) so far in marathon. I haven't played it too much yet, been playing Metroid. Tetris 4 player on wifi if a lot of fun too.

I have been able to get 137 lines in this version. The degree of difficulty is acutally higher on this version, in my opinion, due to the huge increase of speed. Even with the infinite rotating pieces, which I admit to not being keen on, this is still the most challenging Tetris I have yet played.
The Puzzle mode and the Push modes are incredibly fun, especially Push mode. Nintendo did a great job bringing this dead horse back to life.
Once you hit level 20 in marathon/endless, the blocks simply appear at the bottom of the screen with no fall time at all. This is where the infinite sliding/rotating becomes a key gameplay mechanic, as you have to 'climb' over blocks to place things properly. The speed seems to be constant after level 20, with about 3 pieces per second appearing if you don't touch anything.
I made my first serious attempt at endless mode (unlocked after you clear marathon) last night and I never want to try it again.
My friend let me try this game on his DS, it does indeed rock.
I especially like the Tetris Mass (I forget the name of it) where you rotate and move one giant piece while trying to create squares as pieces fuse with the core piece you rotate....you can also smack pieces you don't want though this does damage you somewhat, as do the bombs.
Push Tetris is fun too, you need to learn how to anticipate how the blocks should fall and set up certain bits of it.
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

This! Just got this off a forum member and I am quite impressed. I thought at least half the modes would be pure drivel, but I really enjoy them all!
Somebody mentioned Tetris DX. Was this considered the best portable Tetris, pre-Tetris DS?

I would think it would be "tetres", as words like axis->axes, basis->bases, though it most likely cannot have the usual rules applied to it... I have nothing else to contribute to on-topic discussion, I've never been much of a Tetris fan I've heard this game hyped a lot as well though, so it's not impossible that I may try it someday.

I prefer the b/w GB Tetris. Tetris DX is fun, but the replacement for Game A takes too long to speed up and the replacement for game B does the height differently, putting up blocks that can't be cleared and giving less room to move. The Vs. Computer modes are fun, though. There's also a glitch in DX that makes it so a piece moves upward when it is rotated against the left wall.
