Arcade stick problems and options

Post by HalfCent »

Right now I use a PS360+ based arcade stick, and it works well for the most part. The main issue I have with it right now is with its PSx support. It works for most part on PSX and PS2 games, but not all (Megaman Anniversary Collection for sure, and I think one of the Cave STGs but I can't remember which one). It also doesn't work correctly with my PS2 to Genesis adapter, but does with my Gamecube adapter. The only thing I've been able to find about this is that it happens to other people, and there never seems to be a resolution.

Consoles I'd like to be able to support:

- PSX / PS2
- PC Engine
- Genesis
- N64 (low priority, but would be nice)
- Atari 2600 (low priority, but would be nice)
- Saturn (PS360+ can do it, but it would be nice to not have to install a switch into my current stick)

In any case, I'm looking for options for a second stick to cover the consoles that my PS360+ either doesn't cover or covers poorly. The options I've been able to come up with so far are:

- MC Cthulhu based stick. Seems to be pretty much everything I need, but I can't find it for sale anywhere anymore.

- The older Zero Delay PCB that has PS2 support along with adapters. Everything should be available for this because PSx->"pretty much anything" adapters exist. I'm not 100% sure the ZD PCBs won't have the same issue as my PS360+, but I haven't seen anything about them being incompatible. Downside of this is that I just have to keep a ton of adapters around, and finding adapters that are low latency.

Are there any options I missed? Is there anywhere to buy the Cthulhu that I'm not seeing?

As a bonus question: Is there anything available similar to the Reco PCB (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45870) that I could install in my sticks to give autofire and remapping? I don't think there is, but I figured I'd ask before trying to put something together myself.

Thanks!

I've found PS360 and Toodles boards don't interface with a Blissbox, They both report as the same PS2 model controller.
It should really work but there's some incompatibility it the PS360 and Toodles coding. Blissbox coding is on point.

Fingers crossed we will see an adapter for the blissbox sometime this year that will allow you to use any retro controller with any retro system.

If you have compatability issues with certain games and ps360+ try unplugging the cable, holding X and reinserting.

Yeah, I tried forcing PSx by holding 1K, and it didn't make a difference in either MegaMan Anniversary or with the Genesis adapter.

Thanks for the information on the Toodle's products having similar issues, that makes it less attractive as an option. I would also love to see the blissbox become a complete adapter like that, but it's not on their roadmap at all right now, is it?

I wouldn't be so sure about that ;)
