The Silver Case wasn't exactly a hit.

It's still a miracle that a 15+ year old PS1 visual novel made by a team of four people managed to get not only localized, but fully updated.

And now we're getting the even more obscure, previously mobile-only sequel localized, somehow.
Either Suda is one crazy, stubborn fool, or it did enough bank to make this happen too.
Thankfully, NIS America are publishing this, so they're putting a pretty decent marketing push behind it.

Still, I feel this is just preaching to the Suda faithful choir so far, so hopefully I can add an extra layer of persuasion for the unfamiliar.
A Visual Novel Like No Other

Anyone who played The Silver Case likely knew that it pushed all kinds of boundaries for the VN genre, especially given that it was made in 1999.
Such as in the infamous 'Kamui Drome' segment [NSFW]
Without skipping a beat, TSC often went from live action FMV to animation to stills with dialogue and back again.
Still, it didn't do much to escape its PS1 ADV routes.
25th Ward has bolder ambitions.

Not only is it also having fully updated backgrounds like Silver Case, GHM has gone the extra mile to add some Killer7 exploration flair.

Puzzles even added that extra 'Final Answer' touch for the handful of us FSR vets out there.

But What About The Story?
TSC vets hopefully know what to expect: a healthy dose of urban crime drama through a Suda51 filter.
The 25th Ward is no different.
Envisioned as being the 'perfect city'(think Delta City from Robocop), the 25th Ward was supposed to be a paradise... at least until corpses started showing up.

And this is where our lovable cast of detective misfits come into play.
The Silver Case only had two scenarios: Placebo and Transmitter.
25th Ward has three.

And of course...

Everyone's favorite turtle-wielding reporter, Tokio Morishima is back, too.

Maybe some other familiar faces as well...

Did I mention the OST is amazing, and a one-of-a-kind blend of Masafumi Takada and Akira Yamaoka tracks?

Sandalwood
Metropolitan Edge
etc.
So hopefully some of this has convinced you to give The Silver Case a try, or if you've already experienced it, to step back into Suda's twisted world, because hey, if it's successful... maybe he'll keep making more games like it.

Just be careful who you trust.

Also, here's a new trailer.
