Technology wise, there are no issues with rotating LCD and/or plasma displays. They do not suffer from the same magnetic interference as CRTs, and likewise are more compact and don't have the concerns of circuit boards not being mounted correctly and falling through neckpieces and tubes, etc.
One thing to note: some new flat displays get very hot. Often they have ventilation holes in the top of the units to let the hot air inside escape as it rises. Just make sure that your LCD/Plasma isn't getting too hot when you rotate it, and that the hot air has a chance to escape properly. If there are no ventilation holes in the sides of the unit (which become to top when rotated), consider using a small fan to draw the hot air out manually. You can attach one with some tape in a non-destructive and non-ugly manner quite easily.
