How did 1941, Mega Twins, Varth, Strider, etc. turn out? (and please don't start on me about that last topic. It's over and done with. The only reason I kept replying to you was becuase you replied back to my posts with scarasm and acted like every post I made was to post against the PSP, which it wasn't. Even when I said something like "tate may actually be cool on PSP", you talked to me like everything I said had no merit. Seriously, just becuase I don't own a PSP doesn't mean I know nothing about tating on handhelds. I was skeptical about the PSP tating becuase I felt that tate doesn't work perfectly on GBA or DS. However, after playing Dig Dug and Galaga in tate for DS, I think it's a cool feature for both DS and PSP. I still don't think it's an essential feature, though. My comments about tate on systems not made for tate had NOTHING to do with system loyality) This game has me wanting PSP.

Sweetness. 1941 and Captain Commando with the mechs and everything else from the arcade on the go! How is Last Duel?BIG wrote:Everything looks and plays just like the real deal.
Tate mode looks and feels great, also.
Say what you want, but this is definitely a must have even if you already own the PS2/XBox versions.

Forgot to add, the menus and presentation are well done. I also love the little intro video of the guy "doodling" video clips of the games onto a notebook.
I have not played quite a few of these, I was pleasantly surprised that 3 wonders (sort of reminds me of a rough GSH with gnomes? ha) is actually 3 games in 1 including a puzzler.

Last Duel is very cool, even if it does seem a bit dated.BrianC wrote:Sweetness. 1941 and Captain Commando with the mechs and everything else from the arcade on the go! How is Last Duel?BIG wrote:Everything looks and plays just like the real deal.

cool. 3 Wonders is one of the games I'm interested in too. Last Duel sounds like a cool game, but IGN's review talked like it was pure crap, which annoyed me. Personally, I think the selection in the collection is excellent and has many lesser known games. I'm actually excited that Quiz and Dragons is in it. I loved playing it in arcades. Does the PSP version still have the Disney related questions like the arcade one?BIG wrote:Last Duel is very cool, even if it does seem a bit dated.BrianC wrote:Sweetness. 1941 and Captain Commando with the mechs and everything else from the arcade on the go! 3 Wonders is really cool. You get a Metal Slug-like side scroller (Wanderer),a hori-shmup segment (Chariot),and a Puzzle game (which I have not yet tried).
As far as Quiz and Dragons goes,I really haven't had a chance to play it yet. I will let you know once I get to it,though.

The puzzle game in 3 Wonders (Don't Pull) is actually my favorite of the three. It's basically Pengo.
I love Last Duel too, it's not super awesome or anything, but the car/ship hybrid thing is cool. I used to play the crap out of that game on my C64.

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.
I would, too, but the cursor on the character select screen is always on Mack the Knife. And I can't move it.BIG wrote:Huh?Moogs wrote:Why the FUCK can't I choose my character in Captain Commando?!?!
I haven't had any problem choosing my character. I always use the Ninja.

I can't even choose when I continue.
Well,we all know how IGN feels about 2-D gaming
Main stream reviewers can't seem to enjoy old games unless they've played them before, hence why they liked the council version of this so much better. When I read reviews of the PS2 XBox version all they talked about was Street Fighter2 and Final Fight. This is the same reason for Taito Legend's bad scores, people need to learn that old games that they happend to not play when they were younger still deserve a chance. I don't see why everyone needs to have a nostalgic connection to old games to enjoy them I've played games from the seventies I've not played till recently that I have no nostaligic connection to at all that I enjoy now. SOMETHING THAT IS FUN IS FUN DESPITE IT'S AGE OR HOW WELL IT'S KNOWN.

I did great so much water and milk that I threw up when I was little.
I have found a rather nice control fix for playing proper TATE. After setting the screen to a vertical setting of your choice, set D-pad movement (duh), then "down" on the analog for shoot, then I assign bomb to the left trigger.
Tapping down (left) on the analog to shoot (hold to charge or rapid fire) and nudging the left trigger to bomb works quite well in all the TATE enabled games on the pack. I am having no problems getting higher scores all the time in Varth using this method. It is surprisingly comfy and much better than holding the system hand over hand.
Also, I love Mega Twins. It's a blatant rip off of the Wonder Boy games but that is precisely why I dig it. :p
