I know about Extron RXi:s, but it seems the task is pretty trivial. There are some schematics laying around the net, but I decided to ask, if there's something (not too expensive), I haven't already heard of?
Thanks!

If you're switching RGBHV, and you have the space, I would suggest one or more of Extron's SW series of VGA switchers to hook up your Amigas and your other RGBHV computers/consoles simultaneously to the RGBHV input on your BVM.emuola wrote:[Is there] something (not too expensive), I haven't already heard of?
Don't know if I'm understanding you correctly, but BVM's won't take RGBHV - it needs to be converted to RGBS (or even RGsB). A simple $20 Extron RGB interface will take care of that (although I like the more feature rich, albeit much more expensive, RGB Rxi 203).nmalinoski wrote:I would suggest one or more of Extron's SW series of VGA switchers to hook up your Amigas and your other RGBHV computers/consoles simultaneously to the RGBHV input on your BVM
Oh, derp; yes, I misread. You're right; an Extron interface would be needed to convert RGBHV to RGBS or RGsB. It could either be configured for RGsB and hooked into the second card as originally requested, or it could be configured for RGBS and put between the RGBS input on the BVM and one of Extron's VGA switches.Dochartaigh wrote:Don't know if I'm understanding you correctly, but BVM's won't take RGBHV - it needs to be converted to RGBS (or even RGsB). Nope. You're correct; it's just sync on green.buttersoft wrote:Is the s in RGsB anything more than a composite sync pulse added to the green channel?
I can't comment on eBay in the UK, but I would just browse eBay in the USA and see if they'll ship internationally (you can always message them too - some don't mind shipping internationally even if they don't say so in the ad). This one linked to below is $11 USD shipped in the states = 7.90 GBP. Even if shipping was like $30 it still sounds like a good deal if you can't find them in the UK.emuola wrote:This is really great info, thank youAny possibility to give me a specific example of such a $20 Extron interface? (model number of something like that):) The Rxi's seem to go for anything between $60 to $100. Unfortunately there seems to be none available in EU (ebay.co.uk, ebay.de) and the shipping from states seems to be really, really expensive, more than the actual item itself
And then there's the risk of customs.
The problem with this one is that it doesn't come with the power adapter. The branded adapters are expensive, and if you want to use a third-party one you need the right little 2-pin connector (i've heard it called a phoenix connector, and i've seen 4- and 5-pin variants in the wild, but that's the extent of my knowledge).Dochartaigh wrote: I can't comment on eBay in the UK, but I would just browse eBay in the USA and see if they'll ship internationally (you can always message them too - some don't mind shipping internationally even if they don't say so in the ad). Thank you for your detailed breakdown and all, but that was simply an example from a 10 second eBay search and the first to come up (complete with the caveat I gave him to research more...). He can pickup the one for $17 instead of $11 which comes with the J17 power supply and even has the Phoenix audio connector still on it... the point I was making is these are cheap even with international shipping (once you find a company which will ship internationally which honestly shouldn't be that hard).buttersoft wrote:The problem with this one is that it doesn't come with the power adapter. Finally, be aware that the OEM power supplies are very well regulated, and the 190's tend to become sensitive over time. If you're not getting sync, you can try either using a better-regulated supply, or adding a big 16V electrolytic cap (3300uF or higher) across the power supply terminals +ve to +ve. This is without needing to open the unit, of course.
I did not intend that to sound like criticism, just flagging something to look out for. I've seen a few people buy these sans adapter and then have no clue what to do next.Dochartaigh wrote: Thank you for your detailed breakdown and all, but that was simply an example from a 10 second eBay search and the first to come up (complete with the caveat I gave him to research more...). I just looked up the specs *very* quickly (i.e. you should research some more), and it seems to take in RGBHV (VGA) and output RGBS or RGsB. Even has the jumpers my fancy Rxi model has (which I think I use the SERR to take the bow out of the top of the image from my Windows MAME PC with CRT Emudriver).

I was checking out power supplies too - the 12v models (which many of the Extron units like these use - either that or 15, some are 12-15) are $10 or less shipped (in the USA at least) - super cheap as well.emuola wrote: Thank you for your valuable adviceI'll be hunting for the 190-series in Ebay.com and Ebay.co.uk/de. What great piece of hw for the price. The psu will not be a problem, I have a electronics whole sale store nearby carrying tens of thousands of components (also the weird connectors):)
Isn't RGBS composite sync (pins 19, 20) while RGSB sync on green?emuola wrote:I have a BKM-25P board in my BVM. A great board, as it can take composite video, Y/C and RGB simultaneuouslyThe only problem is that the RGB part is RGBs (sync on green). The default RGB interface of the BVM is reserved for my Amigas only (as the image quality is a tad better compared to the one fed through the Sync Strike). So, as I hook up all the other RGB computers/consoles via Sync Strike (sync cleaner/stripper), to the BKM-25P, I need to convert the outputted H+V syncs to sync on green.

You are correct, sir; RGBS puts composite sync on a dedicated line, and RGsB muxes composite sync on the green line.chriz74 wrote:Isn't RGBS composite sync (pins 19, 20) while RGSB sync on green?emuola wrote:...the RGB part is RGBs (sync on green).
