Newcomer from liverpool! OSSC 1.6 TV/MONITOR HELP

Post by THE EQUIN0X »

Just ordered myself the new 1.6 OSSC

Will be connecting all my consoles RGB through a knightsbridge scart selector (seem to work great on my crt triniton)

Anyone have experience using these to devices together or could recommend a better switch? I get some slight noise on solid colours but barely visible if at all when playing.
Wondering how this will look on an LED monitor/tv

Leading on to next ???

Anyone out there using a modern low latency 4:3 LED which can swivel (For TATE Purposes)

Any Help Will Be appreciated

Mike

I can highly recommend the Bandridge SVB7725 passive 5:1 switch. It's dirt cheap (~20EUR) and even two of them daisy chained show absolutely no image degradation. Since they're dumb, passive switches they also support all kinds of shenanigans with the OSSC like YPbPr or RGsB over SCART.

Oh Great that actually the one i've got, not knightsbrdge hahah.
As I say the noise is minimal if any so looking forward to seeing how this translates from crt to led.
What display are you using ??

:D The only situation in which there was any difference for me between through switch vs direct connection was a sync-on-composite PAL GC. Fixed that with a sync stripper.

I use a 10 year old Sony 55" XBR. Still a decent display & has perfect compatibility with the OSSC, 4x240p and 2x480p on all 10+ consoles. I guess it's time to upgrade. Maybe I'll get a 2017 LG OLED or wait for the 2018 models. Or wait till 2019 for HDMI 2.1?

You always take a bit of a gamble when running the OSSC directly to your display, as many displays will flat out refuse the signal due to its wildly out of spec nature. My monitor is one such case; it’s an ASUS PG27AQ, and it won’t accept anything other than line double mode from a 240p source.
