Which PVMs do 480p?
So I'm just interested to know which pvms can handle 480p as it seems most of them can not from what I'm reading.
It looks like the 2950 can? Also is there a difference between the 2950 and 2950q?
Also what about the 3230?

I am not sure, but I think that none of the PVM do 480p? If you are only interested in Sony monitors, I think only the PGM and some of the HDM and BVM do 480p.

As a PVM-14L5 owner, they certainly do 480p as well as the 20L5. There's also one or 2 JVC and Ikegami monitors that do 480p as well but the model numbers escape me at the moment.Lawfer wrote:I am not sure, but I think that none of the PVM do 480p? Re: Which PVMs do 480p?
Yeah I had already looked at that site before posting. They list the monitors I asked about as "Profeel-Likes" while every other PVM they mentioned the others only do 15khz. So it was kind of unclear to me if the 3230 did or if the 2950 did but I assume the 2950 can it did have component.
The HDM/PGM series is also limited in what it can do though, right? It can't do 240p?Lawfer wrote:I am not sure, but I think that none of the PVM do 480p? If you are only interested in Sony monitors, I think only the PGM and some of the HDM and BVM do 480p.
I was just curious what PVM can or couldn't do 480p. I already own a BVM.
Was kind of curious about the large monitors. Ikegami didn't make anything large then 20'. I think the same about JVC but I could be wrong.eightbitminiboss wrote:As a PVM-14L5 owner, they certainly do 480p as well as the 20L5. About the PGM probably not, for the other I don't know, "240p" is usually not listed by manufacturers even if the monitors can do it.Dragon89o wrote:The HDM/PGM series is also limited in what it can do though, right? It can't do 240p?
They did a 32" 16:9 ones, here:Dragon89o wrote:Was kind of curious about the large monitors. Ikegami didn't make anything large then 20'.

But in terms of 4:3, yeah 20" is the largest they ever did.
Oh right I forgot about that one.FinalBaton wrote:20L5 does 480p for sure
Didn't know this one did 480p.FinalBaton wrote:PVM-14L5

Didn't even know they made one that large or even know they had made a 16:9. Did that even see much light outside of Japan though? Don't think I'v seen anyone with this on any of the forums. Only a single video of it on Youtube with no audio. Also what resolutions does it handle?
No one knows about the Sony PVM 3230 or 2950?

This is not a good assumption to make. A good number of TVs, like my KV-27FV310, have component inputs but only support 480i.Dragon89o wrote:but I assume the 2950 can it did have component.

Ah, well that is good to know in the future. Thanks for that information.nmalinoski wrote:This is not a good assumption to make. A good number of TVs, like my KV-27FV310, have component inputs but only support 480i.Dragon89o wrote:but I assume the 2950 can it did have component.
That is actually quite annoying. I knew the PGM only did 31khz but I had thought I read somewhere that the PVM 2950 did 15khz-31khz.Fudoh wrote:PVM-2950 is 15khz only. PGM-2950 is 31khz only.No one knows about the Sony PVM 3230 or 2950?
That would be annoying to own both... lol.

Maybe he wants thinner scanlines.Lawfer wrote:Don't you already own a BVM though? Can't it do 480p?Dragon89o wrote:That is actually quite annoying. I knew the PGM only did 31khz but I had thought I read somewhere that the PVM 2950 did 15khz-31khz.

Re: Which PVMs do 480p?
The reddit list is most of them, save the PVM-4330 (31kHz and possibly 15kHz) and the PVM-20M7MDE (multiformat 15kHz/31kHz).
If you go beyond strictly PVM's though, there are lots more, the PGMs, the GVMs, the HDM curved 16:9 stuff, the SSMs (are they rebadged PVMs?) and probably more hiding out there. And this is just from Sony.

Indeed, if the OP is opened to other makes, than there are more options. He wrote "PVM" so we gave him Sony reccomendations, of course.buttersoft wrote:The reddit list is most of them, save the PVM-4330 (31kHz and possibly 15kHz) and the PVM-20M7MDE (multiformat 15kHz/31kHz).
