regarding jp shmuppers being anti-social. icy, what gamecenters have you been to? big or small ones? ive been told that many players practice in small centers (making friends along the way), then go to the big ones (like hey) to show off. there, interaction with other individuals is obviously thinner.
They do. If you base all your opinions on trips to huge arcades like Hey!, then of course you'll think nobody talks to each other. I know crews of people that met at small game centers.
Yes, I base all my opinions on trips to huge arcades, because I live 5 minutes' walk from Akihabara, and they only have huge arcades there. When I used to live in Kyoto, I frequented a couple of smaller places, and there was one instance when this guy I was playing Guilty Gear Isuka with introduced himself afterwards. I attribute that to the fact that I am a foreigner, which is an added attraction for a lot of Japanese peoole.

I guess the situation is different in smaller arcades then, although I doubt I'll have the chance to see it for myself, since I don't plan on moving to a small town or a suburb.

On another note, elvis: Statistics is a very exact branch of Mathematics. If you trust Physics, Chemistry and Biology, or your doctor, for that matter, you should also trust Statistics. It is a very precise science, and, if done correctly, the margin of error is negligible.
