AngerForce: Reloaded - A New Indie Shmup on Steam

Post by guooooxxxx »

Hi, everyone!

I am from a small indie game studio based in Beijing, China. Although non of us had any experience in game development, we took the effort to make our dream happen. It took almost 5 years, and finally it's live!

Our first game AngerForce: Reloaded has been released on Steam. It's a classic Shoot 'em up targeting hard core players. Welcome to play and have fun!

There are 7 unique stages with 4 difficulty levels to challenge. You can also play with your friends in duo mode. Game scores are uploaded to the global leaderboard to compete with each other. All 4 avatars have carefully chosen voice actors.

If you want to know anything about this game, please left your comments to tell us.

Steam link:http://store.steampowered.com/app/65078 ... _Reloaded/

Trailer:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5BsPfK1NZk

Features:
-Rich Graphics
-Fierce Combat
-Duo Play

FAQ:

1. Why do we make this game?
Because we're a bunch of hard core '90s STG fans who fell in love with Areo Fighters, ESP RADE, 1945 and other titles from Psikyo. So, we were inspired to create something similiar that once brought joy to our hearts.
Image

2. Difference from other STG games?
We designed 4 avatars with divergent skills. In addition to the safety bomb that can clear bullets upon releasing, each avatar also has 2 attacking techniques. After each stage, players can choose an upgrade from 3 randomly picked options that can dramatically enhance the avatar and then alter the gameplay. Since there are more than 30 upgrade options, players are encouraged to build up their own style.
Image

3. What are the enemies like?
The enemies are all kinds of robots. We designed unique behaviours for each villain in hope to bring character to them, to make them live.

4. Is this game too hard for me?
We provide more than 3 difficulty levels for your gradual challenge, and a dozen testers have tried this approach.
In easy modes, bullets are fewer and slower. You will not encounter lots of enemies. As difficulty increases, bullets move faster, enemies get tougher, and bosses even have more phases.
Image

5. Are there other features?
All 4 avatars have a CG and other stories to unlock in campaign.
Players can enjoy duo mode on the same machine. We are going to add multiplayer mode online.

The global leaderboard also keeps record of gameplay which can be viewed by other players. Anyway, if you happen to check someone's playback to figure out how he gets that insanely high score, don't forget to leave your comments with the built-in damnaku system ;)

Very nice! I really dig the art style and the graphics in this game. Gameplay sounds like a lot of fun too. I'll be getting this on steam soon.

Upon watching the initial video of AngerForce: Reloaded, it does have a strong Psikyo type of vibe/feel going on. I like the intricate and detailed inner mechanics of the mecha bosses when being uncrated from their storage units (reminds me of the detailed rendered sprites shown in Capcom/Takumi's Mars Matrix shmup or some of Cave's Donpachi shmups). I realize that good and innovative mecha design certainly does take time to do properly.

Any plans to have the AngerForce: Reloaded mecha end-stage bosses released as plastic model kits or garage kits? Or perhaps have them outsourced to a Japanese plastic model kit manufacturer and see it released worldwide? I think a fully assembled & professionally painted articulated mecha action figure worthy of posing + add a cool diorama set piece (for that added bling factor) would be ace in my book. That'd be awesome.

The character designs featured in AF:R look like something Arc Systems would do if they were to create a high-res shmup title from the ground up (but since fighting games is their "bread 'n' butter" current business model, a high-res STG from them is highly unlikely).

And is there an option for tate as well?

This looks pretty cool! Though, two questions about the upgrades: Do you start fresh each game? And, will there be any kind of optional mode where the upgrades aren't random? I mean, randomization can be fun, but sometimes you just wanna play with what you wanna play with.

Does this require Steam?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Hello. It is encouraging to hear that you like the mechas in game. It took us a lot of energy to design the enemies and the bosses to make their structure and weapons done properly. And We get a lot of Psikyo's fans in our team.(ノ・ω・)ノ゙

But, I am sorry. We don't have any plan to embody the mechas. It is takes a lot of money. We can't afford it. Meybe in the future when AngerForce: Reloaded sales dozens of thousands. But now, it sales bad..._(:3 」∠)_

We will support tate in the future. But please give us some time. We get a lot of work to do now, like develop the game mode. (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

Yes. Now the upgrade will reset when the game is over. But the upgrades is not completely random. We divide them into different group. And every time you choose a upgrade, the others in the same group will appear.

The upgrades which in the same group could combine with each other and works stronger. For example, "enemy killed by special attacks drops extra energy" can combine with "picking energy items cause a magic bullet shooting out" to increase the magic bullets number and use "sucking in full screen items when turns on low-speed mode" to aim your target.

We are working on a new mode to let players inherit their upgrade and strengthen their character after every time completed a game. Maybe that version could release in next month. And if you are interested in this new system, I could offer you for testing the beta version.(○’ω’○)

I am a big Psikyo fan myself!

I designed the character named Shin to salute Shinsuke Nakamura who is the producer of Psikyo's shooters. (。・`ω´・)

I have to tell you that...I forgot to renew our developer account and Apple remove it from Appstore...〒▽〒

And this two game are quite different.

One of the screenshots says that bosses have 'Enrage Mode' on the highest difficulty. Is it just an additional attack phase like you mentioned before, or is it something else entirely?

Thank you for the offer, but I'll decline. I'm pretty busy with my own projects tbh
And actually, I'm more interested in the upgrades not being persistent between playthroughs, anyways. Never liked the feeling some games have where whenever you die, you have to wonder if it's just because your gear/stats aren't good enough. But if it's just an optional thing like in Radiant Silvergun that's fine.

I'm down for the betta. Hit me on a PM in case you want me to try it out...

on the other hand, it's too bad you could not renew the dev account... so basically we wont be getting a 64bit version of it, am i right?

Looks very cool! Some Vasara influence in there :)

Though the trailer does make the assumption that I have friends.... "CRUSH enemies with your FRIENDS!"

I'm glad the PC Engine doesn't make that mistake :D

In all seriousness, great graphical style and character design. A lot of work was put into this I can tell!

Ha, I really like Vasara 2. You said that, this game is inspired by the 90s arcade shooters.

You could find somebody hit score with you. We are trying to develop online coop mode and the Coop leaderboard and replay system.

Hope you could like it.
