BVM Cracked?

Post by Dragon89o »

Sooo it pains me to upload this but I'm hoping my BVM doesn't have serious damage.
These pictures are in order of the turn on process of the screen turning on. You can see in the second picture clearly the line I'm concerned about. The third picture is me loading a menu after it's turned it on. You can see the line no longer shows itself.

If anyone knows if this is normal or not let me know. I don't see any physical signs of damage from looking at the display from the outside. The line is always in the same location though each time it turns on but disappears after. I will have to wait two days before I can probably test it with any console though.

That's completely normal. Those are RGB lines that are always there (generally hidden in the overscan area) for some reason I'm not aware of :)

All BVMs (and many other professional CRTs by Sony) always have three additional scanlines on top of the image which are being monitored by the tube to compensate for warm-ups and such. Due to this, white balance may have a slight shift the first few minutes after startup.

From what I read a few months ago, this is normal for Trinitron/Aperture Grill technology, it's not perfect but the upside is that it will have a brighter and more vibrant picture compared to non-trinitrons/Aperature Grill.

Ah, well that is good news to hear. I was slightly worried when I had noticed that. Thanks for your responses.
