Anyone here good with HTML type stuff? I have this idea...

I'm not exactly sure how i could go about doing this but basically the idea is to have an animated shmup sprite as the cursor on a web page. The sprite would be one from a vertically oriented shmup - say something from like Raiden Fighters or Strikers.

Here's the catch though. The actual ship you are seeing isn't what you rollover a link to click and access. Instead whenever you left clicked the ship would fire a shot - picture the napalm shot from Viper - Phase 1 - and whatever link that the shot came into contact with would cause the explode animation and access the link.

I don't really know if anything like that has been done before, and it probably has, but it just occured to me how utterly fantastic that would be to have as the cursor for my profile page.

Honestly i cannot remember ever having seen anything that worked in such a fashion.

If there is anyone here who can help me with building such a thing i would greatly appreciate it. Any information you could provide me with will be helpful and to those of you who think this is stupid i apologize for wasting you time .

You'd need a program so that you can make cursors and save them in the .cur format. Then you'd write your HTML/CSS to call for that cursor, and then upload all necessary files to your server.

As for blowing up links...er...it's too early for me to even process that one in my head.

With enough funky scripting, it might be possible to do...
But so far, I've only seen it done in Flash.

That's similar, extrarice, but you would have free control over the ship, and be able to fire at a constant rate.
