Shadows in the dark on new trinitron

Post by karmeck »

So I went a bought an other one. Tested it before making the purses too. Now I see an issue I don't think I had before.
Spoiler
Image
it kinda speaks for it self. And its not just white, I muted the sound and the green sound-off symbol also had a shadow across the screen. Green though.

What is this and how do I solve it. or is it because the screen is curved? so what I see is a reflection?

tv is: Sony Trinitron KV-X2503E

thank you, that got me back in to the settings. some less picture(?) and brightens removed the horisontal line. but still some white shadow when moving the dot around.

Did you even follow/read that link or just blindly paste the first Google result?
Comes up as an empty wiki for me.

Tested this on my other trinitron and had the same issue there. And that one is not even that old. So feels a little better.

Now over to other issues. The scroll test in the 240p test suite reveals that I have a vertical scroll probelm. Well I saw it first in jurassic Park for snes. Horisontal is fine. But vertical has some issues at the top and bottom. Not home now but, would over scan fix this? Will try 50hz then I get home to get a smaller images and by doing that simulate under scan.

Hay. Wait a second.

Why did I not do this from the beginning.

Dose anyone else have this issue on orginal snes/nes hardware using a Sony trinitron with scart? That's the real question I need answerd before I'm pulling my hair out trying to solve this.

Every PVM I've owned has had that effect to some degree, if that makes you feel better.

Re-cap

I talk with a local electrician and he has agreed to recap my monitor. Now I have 2 so I can let him experiment with one of them, the kv-29x1E.

Service manual here:
https://freeservicemanuals.info/en/serv ... -29x1a.pdf

But would this even help? And how too know which one to replace?

Because in the beginning you realised even the OSD green was doing it, now your second guessing yourself...

Did not even think of that. Question still stands. Should I move away from trinitrons.

Tv's are hit and miss now days due to age.
I've been thru maybe 20 trintrons this year and kept 1.

The others would have a good picture but shake, or poor geometry or convergence issues.

I'm sure they could of been fixed with recaps and such but when you can get another one so cheap what's the point?

I could buy 10 trinitron for the price of a recap, and sell the ones I didn't like to less fussy eyes.
