I'm leaving for Denver International Airport in a few minutes. Thanks everyone for your support; particularly Dave_K, and Vexorg-withouth whom I would've never known about the career center at the GDC! :D

If one of the mods could please email me my password, then I'll try and give updates once I'm out in San Jose.

Thanks again, and God Bless! :D -Dave

You should be able to get that yourself.
That is if you still know your username, quite obvious, and the email addy you used to sign up here.
Just click "log out". Then click "log in" next to the "You have no new messages" link and then you'll see the option about the forgotten password and have it mailed to the email address you used when signing up here.
Hope this helps.

Hey everyone! :D I'm typing this from this Nintendo PC courtesy station, if you will, from the Expo floor! Great Expo so far (Microsoft even has a bar, where you can get a drink and watch game trailers! I'm going to write a blog on 1up.com after I get back, about my experience here.

The Independent Games Festival is fantastic! There's a beat-em-up done by two of the guys who worked on Alien Hominid, called "Dad'n Me". Hilarious game! Plenty of 2D casual stuff at the IGF-there is a game, similar to Pipe Dreams, called "Tubetwist", developed by 21-6 games-based out in Denver, near where I live! I met the guys on the flight out here (which went REALLY well, Praise God! :D ), and they gave me a demo disc of the game! Lot's of these games look like the type we're seeing on XBLA, so maybe some will appear there in the future.

Gotta go play the DS Lite at the Nintendo Booth; later! :D -Dave

Glad to hear you've made it there without mishap, enjoy your trip and keep us posted!

And that DS Lite is one sexy little monkey.

Well today I talked to this Microsoft Mobile gaming rep. I asked him about Oragami, and he said that it's a tablet PC that can also dowload any PC games. Because, I asked him if it's meant to compete with the PSP. He said "Oh yeah, it'll blow it out of the water!". He told me that they had really tried to get one to the GDC, but weren't able to do so. They were showing a game called EVE-it's online, and I've never played it at all, but it looks pretty sweet, and the MS guy gave people cards for free play-time. Also saw footage of F.E.A.R.-looks pretty sweet as well! I'm such a console gamer, though. Oh yeah, there was another MS program being advertised where you can fix bugs in 360 games (but I didn't ask the guy there if it could fix the slowdown in Quake 4!).

Also talked to a guy from DeVry; he told me that he went to the University of Northern Colorado-I told him that that's where I went, and he was really ethusiastic! He gave me his business card, and told me the name of a guy he knows who writes game reviews for the San Francisco Chronicle! :D

Also visited Torque's booth, and, for the first time got to play Marble Blast Ultra :D AWESOME game; beautiful graphics (you can see reflections shining off of the marble! ), and a great homage, overall, to Marble Madness! :D

Last night at the awards, Shadow of the Colossus and Guitar Hero really stole the show! Shadow won Game of the Year. The indie game that won the most awards was Darwinia-haven't played it yet.

Went to the bookstore today, and picked up some great books! There's one I'm thinking about getting about Retro programming. I must be the king of shlag! I have accumulated a ton of t-shirts and other free stuff! I love that kind of stuff!

Overall, a great experience so far; certainly a lot more interactive stuff then I expected. Heh, there's actually a poster of this guy being air-dropped out of an Army Helicopter, and it says" There's easier ways to get into E3!" It's an ad for some kind of site where you can get coverage of E3. Would be great to go to that as well, but I'm not pushing my luck. Looking forward to Suite Night at the Fairmont, with parties put on by MS game studios, 1up.com, and more! :D

The Nintendo gals are REALLY cute, BTW!

Sounds like you're having a blast there Dave, which is nice to hear. :)
Actually makes me wish I was there too... :(

Apart from the "meant to compete with part" (which considering the price different range is totally nonsense) would you really have thought he'd say anything else? It would be cool though if you asked if it would hold up side by side against a Game.com and he'd say the same. ;)

Who can blaim you!? I'd do exactly the same (we Dutch LOVE everything that's free and I am certainly no exception. :)

I'd say some pics are in order here...

Just got home tonight; awesome expo, and great to be flying again! (Two of the stewardesses on my flight back were really cute!)

The Booth Babes weren't dressed skimpy, they were just really cute! Sorry I didn't get any pics.

I DID get to play the upcoming GBA New Super Mario Bros on one of Nintendo's DS Lite's, and it ROCKS! Classic SMB gameplay-Mario does turn huge, and then he can run over everything, including pipes! In this mode, there's some kind of meter at the top of the screen that fills before he shrinks again; don't know how you keep the meter full. Still, I'm definately looking forward to this title! :D

As for the Microsoft handheld, the guy did also say that the graphics wouldn't look as good as on a PC, since it'll obviously have a :mobile chip" in it. Still, he said "any PC game" in terms of game downloads for this device. And, as I don't own any kind of PDA, this would be a great device for me.
