Sangoku Justice - CAVE [Strategy Game/ iOS & Android]
Re: Sangoku Justice - New project from CAVE [Genre/Plat Unkn
Outside of mobile and indie/doujin the genre is literally dead, old games being released on new platforms doesn't count.

Nope. Teaser name for Sangoku Justice. Kinda reminds me of "Whats mean 247?" which is a teaser of Puyo Puyo 7.copy-paster wrote:That name sounds like it was from shock site or porn site.3jus
Also, more updates about CAVE's new project, Sangoku Justice.
Prototype screenshots ahead.

I was wondering if this was some kind of wacky Sangoku-themed game. Probably a strategy game.
Wonder if it's actually Sangoku-themed or if it's just using the same idea.

And still no screens of core gameplay, just interface, dialogues, shop etc.

I can't understand how a game company so known for a certain game genre would want to post a tease about a new game's genre while knowing it's going to reveal a letdown to all your hardcore fans. Why would you tease a guaranteed letdown fact. Come back in a week to get your dose of disappointment - we got you covered right here.

If the hardcore fans of their previous releases were generating enough revenue to keep them going, they (and we) wouldn't be in this situation to begin with; this project simply isn't aimed at anyone into their previous work, or even anyone who knows what their previous work is.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:I can't understand how a game company so known for a certain game genre would want to post a tease about a new game's genre while knowing it's going to reveal a letdown to all your hardcore fans.

Ha ha, not only are these the cheapest screens to mock up, but my guess is that IS the core gameplay! Refer to my post about blue balls on the previous page. Poor shootemup fans!qmish wrote:And still no screens of core gameplay, just interface, dialogues, shop etc.

It's a business.
I'm just waiting for the gameplay screens or genre announcement but either way, i think we can move this one to offtopic.

Well at least I don't have to ask where the Nobunaga love is at.
Re: Sangoku Justice - New project from CAVE [Genre/Plat Unkn
Even if it's a mobile game, I would still give it a try but watch them release this in Japanese only. Even the most minuscule JP devs realized that you should more or less at the very least launch games in JP and NA. Shit, even Zun is on Steam now.

Touhou's on Steam now but not with any official translation. This game looks like it's going to be quite text-heavy, especially compared to a typical shmup where you only really need to translate a couple menu options and UI elements. Considering that and that the game will probably receive regular updates and additions that would also need to be localized, and I can't see a decent localization effort paying for itself. They didn't do so for Gothic wa Mahou Otome, and they probably won't for this either. Besides, other games playing in the same space have done quite well for themselves even without international releases.
Re: Sangoku Justice - New project from CAVE [Genre/Plat Unkn
At least Touhou isnt region locked like something like that smartphone collecting card game by Sakaguchi Terra Battle (i dont understand why they cant make english version available everywhere like sane people do)

It's happening, in talks anyway according to insiders. On like donkey kong. Also there was a new version of SDOJ made for PGM2, finished and given to IGS then canceled stupidly. Enjoy.Udderdude wrote:I can't believe there are still people out there hopeful for a Cave return to form.

Source: My uncle works for Nintendo .. er, Cave.
Re: Sangoku Justice - New project from CAVE [Genre/Plat Unkn
I'll believe it when I see it.
I assume either licensing/legal issues or that the cost of support (if they have customers, those customers expect to be supported if they run into issues; if new content is added then that also has to be translated) doesn't justify the expected gains.qmish wrote:At least Touhou isnt region locked like something like that smartphone collecting card game by Sakaguchi Terra Battle (i dont understand why they cant make english version available everywhere like sane people do)

Cave hardcore fans don't really exist anymore, all fading middle aged men who can't admit they've lost interest and nobody gives a fuck about in return. They've been replaced by bitter/bored 20~30 4chaners who more than playing shmups enjoy touhou memes and masturbate to the few odd creatures who are still playing and streaming gameplay online.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:I can't understand how a game company so known for a certain game genre would want to post a tease about a new game's genre while knowing it's going to reveal a letdown to all your hardcore fans.
Cave games dept. are like every ex-video game dev and anime company in Japan, they gave up on the #1 specialty or franchise they built their reputation on, survive on subcontracting and making shitty mobage full of microtransactions and most importantly LOLIs.
Out of all the dream devs of their STG golden age, Inoue as a manga artist is practically the only relevant one still working for them at times, because he can draw lolis.
Japanese pedos make the video game and anime economy, so the industry makes content for Japanese pedos.
There's salvation in retro games archaeology for all the good stuff we've overlooked these past decades, in the case of shmups it's everything B.C. (before cave) aka dadshit.
Join us in the retirement area, where we watch gamers die of old age discussing the wonders of underperfoming 8/16bit titles of 30 years ago we can't afford to buy anymore, but also pinball, ochige, tabletop, golf, pachinko and mahjong for those who are in the final stages.
It's like a long, slow funeral.

For me it's anti-consumer. Just make it available and that's it. In japanese, without "support" etc. Don't region lock.Shepardus wrote:I'll believe it when I see it.

Yes there must be no hardcore fans, which is clear by the price of their PCBsXyga wrote: Cave hardcore fans don't really exist anymore, all fading middle aged men who can't admit they've lost interest and nobody gives a fuck about in return. people still play shmups actively (if not way more than what you consider "full glory", not to mention the overall skill/knowledge level is way higher), it's just that this forum is utter dogshit for discussing shmups so they don't bother posting hereqmish wrote: yeah this forum makes me think sometimes that shmup community is 90% of people who were born in certain times so they witnessed genre in its full glory

Re: Sangoku Justice - New project from CAVE [Genre/Plat Unkn
Yeah /shmupg/ is so much better. It's more like /shmupol/ though, but lots of people will be more comfortable in that environment.
@qmish: wouldn't matter and the mood would be better if the shmups 'industry' wasn't clinically dead, no matter our age we're just walking in circles hanging around on forums because there's nothing new. Not everyone interested in shmups cares about playing the same games forever if it's only for score pissing contests, so if there's not at least one or two good-enough new titles released every year it's normal that a good portion of the shmuppite demographics will gradually lose interest. There's just too much boredom accumulated in the same location.
