Reduce/remove ABL on Sony CRT?

Hi - I have a consumer Sony from 1996-ish - would anyone have an idea of how to reduce/remove the automatic brightness limiter on one of these? I don't necessarily want to get rid of it altogether but it would be great to be able to turn it down a bit. It's a BE-3B chassis.

Some of LG TV's allows you to turn it off through the menu but that's about it, if it's not offered as a menu option I don't think there is much else you can do.
