Sorry to derail the topic. But I get the feeling that Sega has relaxed the "No more DC games" policy to allow for more Naomi development (as someone mentioned above) in part because the AtomisWave hasn't set the world on fire. And since there are lot of Naomi cabs already around... well, it's a no-brainer.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

turns out there never was a No more DC games policy....at least not in japan.Specineff wrote:Sorry to derail the topic. Good to see that warashi didn't just say ''NO DC PORT FOR YOU!''
I'll be sure to send them an email or two in japanese come may.

Well... Milestone spoke to Sega Japan and they left the meeting in their HQ with the final result that there will be more Dreamcast games. Or at least CAN be more DC games if developers and publishers ask for the licence.

Apparently it's not decided yet, but they are considering one. If they receive signal of there being enough demand for it they will do it...jp wrote:So... this game IS coming to the DC?
The DC cover is a fanmade one and nowhere near official. It's a very nice one though.
I for one want a DC port and will mail them to show my interest. If enough people do this we have a real chance of this coming to DC so people better start mailing and signing the inevitable petitions!

Its possibly running on the Taito Type-X hardware since their last game Usagi uses the system.

Hmmm...somehow I'm getting a very "Vasara-esque" vibe from this...I'm thinking that this one will, like the Vasaras, become a "love it or hate it" title among shmuppers, seeing as, while capturing and swinging around enemies to bowl over others looks fun, much like the weapon attacks near-dominate in the Vasaras, there seems to be little reason to ever bother to use your main shot, whether playing for score or survival, seeing as you can not only attack other enemies with the "capture" mechanic, but also block bullets and collect items. Unlike the Vasaras, however, wherein your weapon attacks were at least hampered by their short range and had to be replaced by your longer-distance normal shots on occasion, in this one even that isn't a deterrent to using the capture attack, since you can fling an enemy you've captured pretty much anywhere onscreen, although I'd guess that the necessary "wind-up" could be a problem in some areas.
In any event, I'm one of the group that likes the Vasara games, so I'm definitely interested in this one: the lackluster graphics aren't much of an issue for me as long as the bullets are easily visible, which they seem to be here. Well, here's hoping for a home port.
EDIT: I don't have working sound on this computer, so I couldn't comment on the music...hopefully it's not too awful, heh heh.

I played this game today. It`s another maniac shoot `em up where the ships looks very RSG. Graphics wise it`s nothing special, quite poor to be honest, something in a similar vein to Raiden III but the latter looks much much better. It has a new twist however, one can attach to some enemy ships and toss them about the screen a la Cotton 2 ST-V.
Naomi/DC fans will like it. Pisses on the awful Under Defeat at least. Don`t lose any tears for a DC port, there are more worthy contenders needed on PS2 for example.

The grappling-throwing mechanic looks pretty interesting from a gameplay perspective (absorb bullets for point icons, get larger bonuses for enemy throwing being a killing blow for a boss form) although I guess the windup might be a bit too cumbersome.

I checked this out today and was unimpressed. It's funny, the first I saw of the game in action was some guy shitting all over the final boss. At first I was like "why is there a crowd gathered around some guy playing Radirgy" but soon realized it was some other new lack-luster shooter. Maybe it's fun, but it didn't look it.

Watched this game today. I think it is a load of pap but in it's favour it looks like a shoot 'em up running at 60hz (when it's not slowing down). Everything has an angular feel to it, I just wish they hadn't of tried so hard with the graphics (which are very bad) and just made it simple stylised looking as it would of looked great if done with vector graphics-ish style (as that is how it looks when moving well, in a way). I don't really know about the gameplay but it doesn't seem popular. I don't like this game.

Graphics look great to me; the explosions in particular look remind me of Mars Matrix. The "grapple-and-throw" system looks incredibly fun, and I love the rock music for the bosses!
Still, more kudos may go to Last Hope for being completely old-school!

Well I finally got around to watching the videos at AM Sega, and I have to say, I am pleasantly suprised. This looks like a game I could see myself getting into. The patterns are very Cave-ish (the 1st pattern of the 3rd stage boss is an exact duplication of one of the bosses in ESPGaluda 2), and the enemy shielding/hurling is a nice take on the bullet-clearing concept.
I can understand the consensus of this game being mediocre, but from the looks of the videos I have much higher hopes for this game then previously expected.

Actually, the boss patterns are determined entirely by how high your score is. Score higher and get more difficult patterns with greater scoring potential.Dandy J wrote:The patterns are very Cave-ish (the 1st pattern of the 3rd stage boss is an exact duplication of one of the bosses in ESPGaluda 2)
You got that mixed up, actually Under Defeat pisses all over you.JAPJAC wrote:Pisses on the awful Under Defeat at least.
