Cave Collab Puzzle Game

Eons ago there was an old amusement mag that had some goofy looking animal characters on the front and it was a promotion for a new Cave collaboration game (I can't recall the company they were teaming up with). I missed out on snagging that magazine on YAJ, but have been curious about it ever since. Maybe Gaijin Punch or one of the old timers will know which magazine I'm thinking of (not Arcadia). Well, recently I was checking out some of higenekodo's videos and was pleasantly surprised that he had some old AOU '97 footage and guess what I found? Footage of the instruction cards and the game running:

Doesn't look incredibly novel (Bomberman meets Snow Bros. meets ...), but it's nice to finally see it in action and confirm that it actually was a real game.

Ah, Kaneko, that's right! And I hadn't even realized it was slated for Super Nova, so that's pretty cool.

and its also kaneko developed game, with uo poko a year later it seems like there was some interesting co-dev or licensing stuff going on with cave at the time of the c68000 pcb so possibly on that.

Atlus released Purikura Daisakusen 1996 which I viewed as a spiritual sequel to magical crystals, thinking a possible planner/programmer move explained the similarities, and in the context of this maybe a much more open door policy with employees between these companies existed at the time, especially with sprite based work significantly reducing.
