Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
Over at the Retro Game Boards there is a post about M2 Shot Triggers possibly releasing games on the Switch! The Switch just seems like a natural for Shmups.
Re: Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
I suspect the biggest hurdle would be to convince a large enough number of Switch owners to shell out US$35 when ZeroDiv/Hamster already acclimatized them to US$8 for a single downloadable retro-game.
Re: Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
Good point about the price. I guess they could do a scaled back version on the switch, charge less and market it as a mobile version. With the sales of the Switch being what they are, and what they are predicted to be, I don't think devs can ignore it anymore.

For reference it's hinted at right at the bottom of the interview.

Those same games are available on PSN for $8, that hasn't impeded on M2 as of yet.. Why would the same thing on another platform do it?HydrogLox wrote:I suspect the biggest hurdle would be to convince a large enough number of Switch owners to shell out US$35 when ZeroDiv/Hamster already acclimatized them to US$8 for a single downloadable retro-game.
Re: Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
Size of the current global install base. The Switch is doing well and is expected to hit 15-17 million by March 2018 but the PS4 recently surpassed 60 million. So if all other factors were equal (which they probably aren't) one would expect only a quarter of the number of sales on the Switch compared to PS4. Now the Switch install base could eventually catch up. Not sure if the spending habits of the two groups would be similar though - while Nintendo titles will be successful it remains to be seen whether people are as "spendy" on the eShop compared to PSN. On the Switch it remains to be seen if people are willing to take the potential "at home" quality hit (though with M2 there may be none) in order to have the game "on the go" as well.

Re: Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
I would easily double-dip on all of M2's releases if I could take them with me on my Switch. Yes, please.

No d-pad and apparently the pro controller's d-pad is bad.
Re: Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
I like the d-pad.

It's a design issue, some units are affected more then others, unless they release a revision that fix it, this issue will remain.WarpZone wrote:No d-pad and apparently the pro controller's d-pad is bad.
At 74.99 it just isn't worth it for now
Re: Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
Can confirm dpad on switch sucks and it’s because of the design, you can press all four directions at the same time. I use a Brooks adapter and a PS4 Hori fighting commander on switch. Best dpad on the market imo.

Discussion of the D-pad on the PowerA Nintendo Switch wired controller
Video labeled as review but there seems to be no discussion of how well this functions in use.

I don't have any problem with the Switch Pro controller Dpad. I think the reason you can hit multiple directions at once (does this actually happen on the Pro? It's never done anything besides what I want it to do) is because the Joycons are able to be used independently, so each "directional button" is actually more like UpC DownC LeftC RightC on the N64 controller, or typical face buttons on any other controller.
But again, it's never really done any movement other than in the direction I pressed. I don't see any reason why that should totally flub an STG release--people are playing Strikers just fine, aren't they?
I don't think these would see a ton of sales on the Switch at their current price point. Hell, I'd be surprised if they're selling well on PS4. I'd think the best thing M2 could do would be to wait until they have a bunch of them out, and then make a value bundle out of them. That'd be a killer package on the Switch--having a whole portable multicab of arcade shooters in one cartridge.

Re: Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
As a small heads up, converters from PS3/PS4/Xbox360/XboxOne to Switch do exist. I bought one for a PS4 HRAP VLX, but didn't get around to play with it yet.
Re: Rumor: M2 Shot Triggers on Switch
The design of the joycon 'd-pad' is absolutely no excuse for the shoddy design of the Pro controller d-pad. Instead of placing the center of the cross-t on some sort of pivot point, the entire pad can be pressed inward uniformly, allowing multiple contacts to be pressed simultaneously. Mine does this and it's a chore to play digital movement games with it as a result. Some don't suffer with the issue, but it's a complete crap-shoot. There are quick fix videos on line.. but at this rate, I may drop the $30 on the Horii pad, which apparently has a far better d-pad design.Special World wrote:I don't have any problem with the Switch Pro controller Dpad. I hope you're talking about the Hori Pokken pad because the Hori Pro Controller is the dumbest dpad in the history of dpads.Kiken wrote:I may drop the $30 on the Horii pad, which apparently has a far better d-pad design.
