Do Official SNES Controllers from JPN work on US Consoles?

Just wondering if an Official Super Famicom Controller or a EUR Super Nintendo Controller will work on a US SNES Mini?

All Snes controllers work on a super Famicom but some super Famicom controllers will not work with Snes.

From personal experience Jap Hori controllers work fine on either. My Famicom controller works fine on my Snes also.

Only PAL SNES consoles check the controllers. I've got 3 SFC pads and they all work fine on my PAL SNES btw.

I had to mod my pal snes,think my 3rd party controller was the only one that didn't work until the mod.
