I'm kinda leaning towards Mahou being my favorite too. Very good package. You don't have to worship Garegga to enjoy this developer. Shippuu, on the other hand...

Their overall best game is probably Batrider, which has a lot of Stuff in it while also being reasonably well-balanced despite this.

I have the board and don't like paying for romz

edit: though if I were to break that rule it would probably be something by M2, they at least try to make it kind of worth it but it still always feels faintly ridiculous to me in 2017

Technically M2's actually porting the game rather than slapping the rom in an emulator, at least if it's anything like the other ShotTriggers releases so far. There will also be extras, though there isn't much info on the new game mode...

yeah I think their method is way better than most re-releases of very old games, but to me it's still just a repackaged old game and none of the collector stuff appeals to me because I'm not really into the whole collectible nerd kitsch thing anymore. I get why these sets are really appealing to lots of people though and 10 years ago I would have been waving fistfuls of money at M2

I was looking into getting a Mahou PCB, even had a super gun ready to go but then M2 went and announced the port :P
Ps4 and port much cheaper than a PCB with more modes and extra sound tracks. Sounds like a good deal to me 8)
Hoping for Batrider at some point.

I agree about the colectibles. If it has a function, like a marquee that i can pop on the cab it's cool, otherwise it's just tat that get's me annoyed when i knock it over from the shelf (imo).

On the other hand, these M2 releases are of a very high quality standard and bring a lot of stuff to the table in terms of convenience, an actual arrange mode, better sounding music (remixed as well) and social connectivity.
I found the Arrange mode on Garegga very fun, the remix OST that usually sucks is killer, and i can stream it in 1080p 60fps and it takes me 10 seconds to do it.

In the end, whatever floats your boat.
I have some PCB's, but some times i have to move stuff around and i don't have the CRT's on hand ready to go and the PS4 is always there ready to go.

One thing that was frustrating is that the week Fantasy Zone 2 W came to EU (I'm in US, but I often checked the EU page at Nintendolife for eShop updates since EU gets it earlier and is often similar to the US update), there were many complaints about it being to expensive, even though the price wasn't high at all. Not to mention that this FZ2 is not a ROM of the SMS, but a conversion of a PS2/System C game that is almost like a new game and remade from the ground up for the 3DS complete with an extra mode that plays very different from the main game. It seems games get complaints no matter the price and M2 delivers quality that is well worth it.

About when is this gonna be up EST?

What's the price on this again? Is it 35 dollars, as well? I have to get a Japanese points card.

yea, it's 3700 yen. Which was unfortunate because I had 608 yen, and the only cards you can buy are 1000, 3000, and 5000

JP PSN usually updates sometime in the evening for North America, usually, I think. Maybe somewhere around 7-9 PM?

I think that applies to all gaming media. "Oh it's a retro-style game? Can't charge more than $20 for that."

imo it's OK for a newish STG by a professional JP dev to be full price, like Dariusburst and Raiden V, but I don't think it's unreasonable to demand low prices for old stuff you can easily emulate or for boring indie yoge ~retro aesthetic~ shmups

Here's a quick rundown of Dual Mode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrY2INmZEG4

You pick two characters and they both appear on the screen at the same time - 1p fires their main shot, 2p fires their sub shot; both weapons are at max and there's a button to switch between sub shot types. 1p is controlled like normal, 2p moves around in a predefined way that differs for each character, and there's a button you can press to have them do something specific:

Gain: stays directly in front of 1p, holding/releasing the dual button makes him move slowly up/down the screen

Chitta: follows behind 1p on a slight delay, hold the dual button for exact mirrored inputs

Miyamoto: homes in on enemies for point-blank damage, hold the dual button to lock him in place

Bonham: slides around the screen in the reverse direction of your inputs, hold the dual button to lock him in place

I don't know about the scoring differences but they did rebalance the weapons, particularly Gain's.

Super Easy is pretty much what you'd expect: no rank, extends at 80k, autobomb, slower items, slower-than-zero-rank enemies and other buffs, including the rebalanced weapons drom dual mode.

Looks great, the gadget design is so cool in motion.

I have to get some JP store cards to buy this and dangun.
Does anybody know what's the better(cheaper) way to do it?
Having leftover credit on the store kind of sucks.

Bornnam as 2P in dual mode seems super strong. Anyone know how to keep the rank at 100% in Dual? Triggering it in st1 seems easy enough. When its active it prompts you to hold bomb button after autobombs. Scoring seems to be all about speedkilling enemies and getting a bunch of bonus ones. The stacking bonus value increases faster when 'miracle' is active?

Fan art from the contest M2 ran before release.

All of it is viewable in-game too, I think.

PSN, the place where you buy it, obviously :P.

At least now I know why I can't find it at the cheaper price and can now buy it without wondering why everyone else can save a few bucks except me. Haha.

I know it's not a crazy hassle to setup a JPN PSN account, but I'd rather hold off until this gets an NA release. It might be wishful thinking to think M2 would release this and Ketsui outside of Japan, seeing how the english translation of Dangun Feveron hasn't been given a release date yet.
