Yeah and Bakraid plz.
Define "bring to the west"?
Release in Western territories, which includes Europe and Oceania (not just 'murica). Saves faffing around with points cards and that to get it from the Japanese store.

:D This is wonderful news! Mahou is a game I've wanted to own on PCB but never got around to buying. This might have been one of my very top choices for M2 to make a port of.

I noticed CAVE's Ketsui is next and planned by M2.
At this rate, I won’t be interested into shmups anymore. I am no longer going to be active in this forum from now on. I am more interested into Kemono Friends, rhythm games, D4DJ, Puzzle Games, Hololive, and Pretty Cure.

Farewell.

Would rather Batrider, Ibara Kuro or a Tatsujin compilation.

New info, trailer, etc:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgWlWgD7Ns4

http://m2stg.com/mahou-daisakusen/

The feature set's pretty much identical to the other M2STG releases: "gadget" readouts, custom settings, button config, leaderboards, replays, etc. They also added a collectible card aspect where you can unlock data cards for everything in the game, just to emphasise the fantasy/RPG aspect, I guess.

Modes are arcade, super easy and "Dual Mode" which is another moderate-difficulty, high-scoring mode a la Garegga's Premium mode and Feveron's Fever mode; they haven't explained how it works but the little info that's on the site suggests you'll be able to switch/tag characters in real time.

BGM options are original, "orchestral" (new arrange with dynamic changes mid-stage) and "PC version" which comes from the X68000 or FM Towns ports... those default to MIDI, right?

They're doing another demo station at HEY starting this weekend, it'll be arcade mode until launch and then dual mode for a week after, and they'll be streaming it again so you'll be able to watch people decipher the new systems.

Great news.
I'll pick this one up with Dangun.
I never got around to buying it since Garegga's arrange is super fun and i haven't even finished; dying on the last boss :X

Bring on more M2 titles!
There's been no news on that schoolgirl stuff they were doing with Dangun, right?

This game's stage 2 boss's "green bullet" pattern is one of the most terrifying patterns with very few bullets ever. That boss alone is enough reason for everyone to play this game.

The FM Towns port uses redbook audio, arranged with midi tools, really neat.
I've seen several games using the term "PC soundtrack" when talking about towns' stuff, so I'm pretty sure that's the soundtrack included in this game (also, the arcade and 68K have the same YM2151 based music).

I'm going to take a guess and say that super easy mode is the western Sorcer Striker release. That release is pretty much void of bullets the first loop, and the second loop is the japanese loop 1 with slightly more bullets. Duel mode has me intrigued, at first I thought it was just going to be a double play mode but it seems to be a tag mode of sorts. The arranged ost is going to be so good, I cant wait!

Well, we already know that if nothing else, Super Easy mode has autobomb (big surprise). So there'll be at least some differences.

I'd say no, since the X68k only had MIDI via addon Roland modules, and programs had to be specifically coded to use them. Both computers came stock with onboard FM/PCM sound. I don't know if Mahou X68k had MIDI support, but I guess it's possible.

Possibly a bit off-topic, but that actually explains a lot to me!

I've only played Mahou Daisakusen, not Sorcer Striker, and when I saw the latter towards the bottom of that "1cc difficulty list", I was really surprised; I didn't know of any differences between the two, and Mahou didn't seem much easier than average (its levels tend towards the tamer side, but its bosses can be pretty fierce IME). I'd always kinda wondered what I didn't "get" about Mahou; now, I guess I know!

That would explain my lackluster first impression with this game then, since I played the SS version.

Anyway, if the music in the PV is what the new arranged soundtrack is like, then that's pretty damn good!

That's interesting. Do you think that that easiness/lack of bullets extends to the European ROM too? Now I feel a bit down, getting so much progress done with EU Sorcer Striker...

I think the only 2 releases were Japan and Europe, those are the only 2 rom sets I've seen. I say go for the 2-all there then move to Japan version. As long as you are having fun, that's all that counts.

The stream quality is effin' atrocious.
Is there any other source or past recording that's a bit better?

More more more. Greatly enthused to see these ports continuing.

Asked this in another thread - does anyone know what happened to toaplan licenses/IP when it went under? ... they're not just dead and owned by a bank are they?

I assume the streaming site throttles non japanese IP connections, crippling the quality, but i can't be bothered to configure a proxy to watch that.
Kinda funny, since it was a photo of Garegga Rev. 2016 running on a vewlix at HEY that made me buy a chinese vewlix just to have the same setup.
