Hi,
I recently bought a Sony PVM 1454QM to plug my megadrive on with rgb cable and female scart to BNC, both bought on retrogaming cables.
When I first turned the thing on, I managed to have an image with quite wrong colours, like too warm with too much red.
So I tried to move a little bit the red plug and poof! I lost red and green signals, only remained blue and sync. Then I lost the blue, so I had a kind of shadow picture with sync only. And finally lost the sync, screen saying "no sync". Everytime I switch it on now with the console linked to it, it seems there's no rgb and sync signals anymore. I can however go the menu, and all the informations on screen appear fine. As well, I can get sound when I plug the audio wires. But no video signal. Weird.
I changed the BNC cable for the test with another one, but still the same.
I don't really know what would be the problem here, and as I'm not so much a technical personality, I was wondering if somebody encountered the same issue and would have an idea of what would be the cause of this loss of signal.
Thanks for the read.

Check which buttons lights on front panel. If you use RGB you should turn A/ RGB, Line/RGB, EXT.Sync.

Thanks for the answer. It's really appreciated.
Yes, everything related to RGB is light on, but nothing on screen. I tried, for the test, to plug sync on line A and B, sync on green, and other combinations but nothing happens. Made a factory reset from the service menu too. That's really frustrating to have a monitor that turns on correctly, with working buttons on the front, with access to the menu and service menu, but...no signals with anything plugged.

Did you test the other inputs on your PVM? Especially component, given that it shares the same connector with the RGB channel (just remember to set the sync to internal in the menus).
If the other inputs work, then there's something wrong on the RGB channel. Otherwise it would be a more fundamental issue. That said, I don't really have any expertise on CRT repairing, so I'm not sure how you should proceed after that.

Thanks for your reply. Well, I don't have other cables that I can plug on component, but I tried to plug the sync cable on it. I read that it was possible to get a signal on component via sync cable. Nothing happened, stil "no sync" message and no image. The sound connectors work by the way, so I don't know if it could be a clue.

I think that only works if you use luma for sync. If you have a composite cable for your MD and an rca to scart adapter, you could try plugging that into the scart to bnc adapter and then hook up the sync cable to the composite input of the PVM.govenori wrote:I read that it was possible to get a signal on component via sync cable.
