Hello there, the title is pretty much self-exaplanatory. I was wondering if theres a way to bypass the HDCP from certain sources, specifically the PS3, so I can record in 1080p using my Capture Device.
Setup is: PS3> VP30> Capture (HDMI).
All I get is a blackscreen, but I can still navigate through the VP30's menus, so I assume its a issue with the PS3's HDCP? I read somewhere that the VP30 could be used to strip the HDCP from a PS3, but i had no sucess so far.
Has anyone done this?
Thanks in advance!
Using the DVDO VP30 to bypass HDCP and record from a PS3?

I don't think that the VP30 can be forced into ignoring HDCP. One of the earlier DVDOs could do that (HD+ maybe?).
Of course, if you swap your HDMI cable to a YUV cable, it will work just fine:
PS3 > via YUV > VP30 > via HDMI > capture device.

Doesn't the PS3 downscale resolutions when playing Bluray through YPbPr?Fudoh wrote:I don't think that the VP30 can be forced into ignoring HDCP. One of the earlier DVDOs could do that (HD+ maybe?).

No idea. Never played a Blu-Ray on a PS3.
Do you really want to captures movies ? It's much easier to just rip the BD directly on your PC.

Yea I have component cables but I was hoping to avoid that option.Fudoh wrote:I don't think that the VP30 can be forced into ignoring HDCP. One of the earlier DVDOs could do that (HD+ maybe?).

I read here that HDCP could be bypassed on the VP30 using older firmware, so I was hoping it would be possible somehow.
And I'm going to capture games anyways, so movie material doesnt matter for me.

You know that devices that strip HDCP are like six dollars, right?

Cool. I'll probably get one. Do they introduce any image/sound degradation or input lag?ZellSF wrote:You know that devices that strip HDCP are like six dollars, right?

It shouldn't. It's a simple splitter, it doesn't process the signal in any way it doesn't need to.GeneraLight wrote:Cool. I'll probably get one. Do they introduce any image/sound degradation or input lag?ZellSF wrote:You know that devices that strip HDCP are like six dollars, right?
