iScan Duo Audio Issue

Post by strygo »

I picked up an iScan Duo for its 8 HDMI inputs. I'm having a problem where I can't get it to output audio. I've tried a few different sources over multiple of the HDMI inputs (SNES to OSSC, PS3), Wii over composite (+ RCA stereo). I tried both HDMI outputs. Made sure the Duo is outputting audio to HDMI A/V. Multiple different HDMI cables. The power supply I'm using is not original and it needs 12V/5A. Is anyone aware of anything that might be giving me grief? Thanks for your time.

Ugh. I hate HDMI cables.

So as a last ditch effort, I tried the Duo on my older 1080p LCD and the audio worked. For some reason this specific HDMI cable works. It's very old. All of the other ones I tried, including a much newer one I recently got for my Apple TV 4K, did not.

Anyone have a possible explanation?

Well, I misspoke. The real problem turned out to be the HDMI port I am using on the Vizio P-Series 4K display. For some reason, only HDMI-5 handles audio from the Duo. On the other 4 inputs, I don't get audio. I just re-read that HDMI-5 has lower input lag than the other ports, so perhaps this has something to do with it?
