I've worked out most stuff about dfk bl arrange (ketsupachi) but can someone explain to me the quickest way to fill hyper/bomb stock please? Sometimes it seems to fill really quickly, sometimes it take s ages to fill? I've watched sinmoon's replay on yt With the annotations, but doesn't explain those things. Is there an in depth guide on here?...

So this is not really a question, but more of a PSA:

For the love of Christ, "8bitdo" is pronounced '8-bit-doe', not '8-bit-dew'. They are a Hong Kong based company, their own speaker cube pronounces it with a 'doe' (although at least one person was so convinced 'dew' was correct that he actually conditioned his mind to hear it that way even from the speaker cube), and both the Chinese and Japanese pronounce "do" as 'doe'. For example, it is 'nin-ten-doe', not 'nin-ten-dew'.

Just to clarify, I'm not really upset about this, and this is just a sort of joking PSA. :-)

We in America pronounce everything with an American accent. So I am ignoring your PSA and pronouncing it like it's spelled: "do" as in "to perform", "to execute", as in to play 8-bit games. I will DO that lol.

No, because it's not thought of as a compound word like 8-Bit-Do could be construed as.

You're splitting hairs in order to get around a checkmating point. Aside from that, the company's own speaker cube pronounces it as 'doe'. Why? Because the word they are referring to is translated as "way of". For example: "Jeet Kune Do" is not pronounced with a 'dew' on the end and it means "way of the intercepting fist". Even we Americans pronounce it correctly (well those of us familiar with it). Thus "8bitdo" is intended to be "way of the 8-bit" or "8-bit way".

So if you know to pronounce martial arts that end in 'do' correctly, you're perfectly capable of pronouncing 8bitdo correctly as well.

Edit: But don't go and say 'guradiusu'.. it was just to point out that according to the japanese transliteration, the "a" is pronounced the same as in "to pat" (I totally suck at phonetic spelling)

Hey everybody.
I have a nice Japanese 480P Trinitron, but I find I play mostly 240p or 480i content.
I know the accepted consensus is that 480p sets are not ideal for 15khz content, but can someone give me a quick refresher on why this is?
I can get RGB equipped 480i Trinitrons where I live pretty easily and I wonder if it is worth seeking one out. PVMs are great and all but the cost/benefit is not enough for me since lots of Trinitrons here have built in RGB. Still waiting to see if I can find a good deal on a local P/BVM but nothing yet.
I did see my local TV crew actively using a 6/9" model on a shoot during a festival last summer. Should probably make some phone calls and see if they have anything to get rid of.

this comes from Arcade use. Trisync tubes have considerably stronger scanlines on 15khz content, which can he hard on the eyes, if you sit close to a 29" screen.

Does anyone have any pointers on streaming stuff from a Supergun? Picture quality, I'm not too concerned, as long it's visible/okay to look at for a long period of time.

My (ideal) setup would be a PVM 14L2 w/ SCART breakout cable and the Supergun connected via. SCART. I wanted to put my Live Gamer Portable (that comes with a set of component cables) to good use since I have it sitting around; are there any ways to get it working with what I already have or alternative inexpensive capture cards that'll work? Or do I have to throw down for an OSSC and go from there?

Would appreciate a rundown or whatever really, thanks.

Your problem will be to find an upscaling solution compatible with the Avermedia capture box. The OSSC's output timings, especially from PCBs) are rather off-spec, so you're limited here. What you need is an upscaler that is able to unlock its output refresh rate, so you can get a standarized 720p/1080p60 signal into your LGP unit. On the higher end you can use a Framemeister to accomplish this, in the mid range there are the DVDO scalers and on the lower end there those $40 Scart to HDMI converters. All of these process RGB and all of these will convert to a perfectly timed 59.94Hz output.

Thanks for the quick rundown.

I was told to get an OSSC, but it seems a bit complicated to use and the FM is a bit expensive when I just want something to quickly record/stream without breaking the bank.

With the SCART to HDMI converter ("HDV 8S") would the output have a stretched out image when recording and would this device be suitable for shmups (since there's alot happening at once)? I'm mainly looking to stream games like Futari 1.5 and Puyo Tsu; I want something that's cheap but effective and this may seem best suited to me.

The output from the converter is 720p or 1080p 16:9, but I don't think this matters. You can do any kind of postprocessing or aspect ratio control in your streaming program.

there are enough Youtube videos out there using that converter, e.g. https://youtu.be/Qge73sb9hM8?t=1730 . Looks ok for streaming purposes, doesn't it ?

Yup it does, this actually pretty good for my needs so I'll definitely look into it.

Thanks again for the rundown, I appreciate it. :o

Does anyone have Laserdisc repair experience or know where I should look for information?

I finally watched an anime Laserdisc and found that my player has some really severe ghosting/double-image problems. Any solid lines have 3+ faint lines surrounding them. I'm guessing a cap replacement is probably needed at the minimum?

I should sign up for their forum is I guess what you're getting at? I've used the site before for looking up Laserdiscs but don't see any other place that could potentially offer repair advice.

hi guys. ive recently been enjoying some of the megaman x games that came out for ps1. im playing them on my ps2 via its backwards compatibility using component output. i usually use my 27" toshiba for this for the nice 240p with scanlines. however out of curiousity i connected it to my 46"' led samsung, which reads the signal as 720x240p. after diasabling all the tv's processing junk and putting it in game mode the quality is actually preetty good. but is there a box out there to add some scanlines that wouldnt be too pricey? only other issue is the set stretches the picture a bit vertically but its not a big deal, dont think i can do anything about that

There was the SLG-HD for component, but you'd need to upscale the 240p signal from the console anyway, because blanking half the lines of 240 will result in only 120 visible. The SLG-HD by itself with the PS2 worked only for the few games that supported 480p.

Good luck finding a 'cheap' solution for scanlines on your hdtv that won't look horrible, you could buy an old but decent scaler for little (one of the early DVDO iScan with component input for instance, I've seen an iScan Ultra at $125 on ePig) + an SLG3000 or SCAN.DL (+ a transcoder to hdmi depending on your tv input), or an XRGB2 Plus or even XRGB3.
Assuming you'd manage to acquire any of these solutions for something like under 150 in total (very unlikely), maybe it would be worth your time and effort.

But in the end you'll realize you could simply have ordered an OSSC for just a bit more, and you will cry, because it is ten times better than everything else.

hehe yah. i went back to my crt pretty quick. something else thats odd. i notice on my playstation 2 with component video output, the colour red looks off, looks like a pinkish hue. i tried two pairs of component cables-same issue

in comparison, my sega saturn running the same game (megaman x4) via s-video looks better with the reds looking red.

anyone have this issue with ps2?

Just a thought : maybe the culprit is your TV's component connexion's tuning, and not the ps2.

Component inputs are "tuned" (and these values can often be adjusted in the service menu). Maybe you can get the red where you want it by adjusting these values. That was the case on my consumer crt, everything looked off through component, so I ajusted the values for the component connexion and it got MUCH better.

Of course if your other component sources look great on the same tv except for the ps2, than the culprit might be the ps2 after all.

thanks, turns out the issue resolved itself after i cleaned some dirt on the cables that had built up and blew out some of the dust from the inputs lol. looks great but still makes me wanna get a scaler now with scanlines so i can play on my big tv properly.

If they want to be patient one can get lucky. Last XRGB-2 plus sold for 77 USD on eBay including shipping. I thought about bidding but I already have way too much crap.

I would definitely not want to pay $125 for an Ultra. At that point I feel it's really worth skulking around for a deal on a 50/50pro/edge/duo.

Best of luck in your quest creamygarlicdip.
