Kind of embarassed on this one but here it goes:
Could someone share the screw sizes for a PC-Engine Duo? I may have misplaced some screws for the console.. I have a pile of screws the are from all sorts of projects and I want to avoid stripping something. I imagine these are machine screws if I had to bite the bullet and outsource my own from a store? Not sure if Japan followed a different standard and if the threads were crazy different / impossible to match up with stuff in 2017

replied elsewhere where you asked, but original screws are all self tapping. sizes are that the outer case screws are M3 12mm long, 2 card slot screws are also M3 12mm, and pcb screws are M3 10mm. you can get them here with phillips heads:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/100Pcs-M3-M3-5- ... 2662279892
this link is not the cheapest. just and example of how they are named and look. end could also be called cut tail or flat tail.
someone pointed out elsewhere these should not be called M3 screws and just 3mm self tapping screws. but most (if not all) are listed with the M before the mm size on ebay.

You actually have it right. The "M" prefix stands for metric. The number is the (major) diameter of the thread. This is the convention for ISO metric screw thread which is the proper way to specify screw size in metric format. So M3 is a 3mm screw. If a seller list an item just as 3mm screw, they are just expressing it in a non-technical way for simplicity.mickcris wrote:someone pointed out elsewhere these should not be called M3 screws and just 3mm self tapping screws. but most (if not all) are listed with the M before the mm size on ebay.
