What is the benefit of running the 360 through the Toro? The console supports native 480p YPbPr and RGB output (and HDMI on later models).

I'm sure the Toro does a great job with scanlines, but that seems rather overkill considering the intended purpose: wouldn't an SLG on the 360's VGA output do the same thing for a bunch cheaper, or even the SLR (also from BBS)? I'm guessing as to the Toro's price, though, since most of the products on beharius' site don't have prices, and there doesn't seem to be any way to order the SLR or Toro.

So, assuming that the SLR is cheaper than the Toro, why use the Toro as a standalone scanline generator instead of the SLR?

It's actually designed for the Dreamcast however with its additional scanliner cable (+$5) it becomes a standalone scanline generator. SLR is also cheaper ($45) and based on the Toro pcb, so if you don't have a DC, it can be a great choice too.

Currently we are not taking orders, after completing shipping the preorders we will continue take orders again. We don't have any stock problem though.

I also use the Toro for the DC mainly, so I already have it.
No need to buy something else.

Is there any way to be notified when you start taking orders again or should I just sub to the thread?

Just ordered one mainly for the Dreamcast but have a question about the scanliner cable I also got with it. Will this also let me plug a PC via VGA at 15khz using crt_emudriver into it and output RGBS via SCART? The reason I ask is because I'm also interested in the KENZEI for connecting the PC to my PVM but if the Toro can do what I asked then I can just grab another cable and save space.

Wow that's so awesome. I was already excited about this just for DC but now it's going to save so much space and just make things easier.

Thanks.

I have heard good things about the toro box! ....I would totally buy one for my DC if the dang checkout site would let me. Their checkout service (goshopier) has turned down both of my debit cards saying they have encountered a "general error" processing my card. Ihave called my bank, tried my gf's debit card...pretty much tried everything. The site simply does not want to take money! Shame too since ive heard glowing reviews about thing..

Thank you for making something so awesome.

I've never owned a SLG or upscaler so this was perfect for me, I love it. You can use it for a bunch of stuff. What I've tested so far with awesome results.

DC -> TORO -> LCD.

DC -> TORO -> Extron -> PVM 20L5

and for scalines I tried these and both look great -

360 -> TORO -> LCD.

Wii -> XCM COMP2VGA -> TORO -> LCD.

Now all I need to get is a SCART to BNC cable and I'll be able to use the TORO for groovymame and then move my Extron to my other monitor.

Nice setup! Garo can be used for Wii too, all in one box that can convert component to VGA and adds scanlines.

jdawg131 wrote:I received my Toro VGA Box in the mail just an hour or so ago. The build quality is first rate. I have it connected to the XRGB Mini using a SCART to JPN-21 cable (running into a Selecty 21 switch), and am using FBX's DCVGA profile. I've only had the chance to test Super Turbo, but wow. With the Toro's scanlines enabled, the game just looks incredible. Pure, classic Capcom / Street Fighter bliss.

Many thanks beharius, FBX, and retro console accessories (custom built the SCART to JPN-21 cable upon request). You guys rock and help make this forum such an awesome place to visit.
I just received the Toro a week ago and have been trying to use the same setup as jdawg131. I’m not seeing video when I route the Toro through the Selecty 21. If I bypass the switch and go directly into the Framemeister everything works great. Is there something I’m missing?
