Solved* PC-E Duo C122 lifted pad repair advice

Post by korpse413 »

As the title mentions my Duo board has a missing pad at C122 +. For a workaround do I simply scrape the area around the via shown in the picture below and solder the replacement cap + leg to that area?

If this is assumed to be true, how do I go ahead and verify that this was a successful fix with a meter?

Any help is appreciated!

I would scrape it. Alternatively you could run a wire to the other side.

Do you have continuity / diode test setting on your multimeter?

Hi nem, I do. Is it as simple as probing the fixed area with any other +cap pad throughout the entire board? Or are there specific areas to check?

Result - surprisingly a strong solder connection

I am no expert here, so should I roll with this..? How exactly can I test that this is a working solution with a multimeter?

Look on the other side of the board where that + via comes through, and probe it with your multi-meter. touch one probe to the via and the other to the capacitor leg. If it beeps, its a successful bodge job

I would put that capacitor so it can lay flat against the board and use a dab of hotglue or kapton tape to hold it on the board, just in case it gets bumped around it wont rip the traces again.
Just my 2 cent. other than that it looks ok, would have been how i fixed it my self. Unless i ran a wire to the affected lead of an SMD cap
