Yet another eBay oddity...

Post by BulletMagnet »

First time I can recall ever seeing one of these... Anyone else ever heard of this item? I'm not planning to bid on it, but I am curious...reminds me of that one RSG "medal" I saw someone offering sometime back, no one was sure about that one, IIRC.

Yeah, someone recently posted this over on the Neo boards: link.

Either a coincidence, or the same guy.

I'd never pay that much.

EDIT: Just noticed it's the same pic in all three instances, which probably originated from TNL. So no telling. Probably the same guy though. Just seeing how much he can get out of it.

I've seen it offered before as a prize for a contest. It's legit.

buy it now for 200. It's a steal. This will someday be worth more than 200?

This is sarcasm, right? They weren't even made in Japan by Treasure but by Infogrames/Atari. I'd say they are pretty worthless. But as the saying goes: "There's a sucker born every minute." -Joseph Bessimer

Worthless because... they weren't made in Japan?

I don't follow.

Anything not made in Japan for Japanese people is a valueless hunk of turd. How can it have a value if it isn't imported from the mysterious East?

Worthless because it has nothing to do with the company that made the game. It's like printing "Ikaruga" on a t-shirt yourself; same collector's value. You could even claim the t-shirt to be more valuable because there is only 1 (as opposed to 100 sake cups made by a publisher long after the game's initial release). Extremely limited.

But hey, if the cup is worth 200 USD to you, who am I to tell you how to spend your money. While we are at it, could I interest you in a limited custom-made Ikaruga t-shirt? Does 800$ sound fair?

They do drink quite a bit of sake, but they probably drink more beer.
