Word. I love how his character mellowed this season, following his more cantankerous appearance in FWWM. Stop sellin' yer blood!

Carl was probably one of the best-hearted people on the new season. And probably one of the very few genuinely good people in the town. Every scene with him was a treasure; I was sad that he didn't get one more round in the finale.

This is a good a time as any to suggest everyone check out Lynch's Disney Movie, The Straight Story.
Stanton always held a great presence on the screen.
Spoiler
Harry Dean Stanton is cast as the finale character of that charming and touching film.

But I guess it could be depending on how one thinks the movie is going to play out.

Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
After watching espisodes 17 & 18 back-to-back, the hint to watch both espisodes together at the same time as pointed out in another post is quite impressive -- masterstroke of genius between Lynch and Frost to pull this off in spades. Quite a clusterfuck of mindblowing revelations/clues, indeed, if they're viewed together at the same time.
So the Richard & Linda characters take place in the real world of present-day 2017 timeline then?
When FBI Agent Cooper asks "What year is this?" -- what year is it really? Is it present-day 2017 or some other alternate year instead?
Fascinating to learn that Mr. Lynch almost got the "green-light" to direct Star Wars: Return of the Jedi -- that would've been interesting to see his personal take on all things within the Star Wars universe/mythos.

Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
I don't buy the whole thing of the last two episodes being synched together at all. I think that people trying to make something from nothing. Next thing someone will say it has to be watched backwards or some tosh like that!
If im not wrong the timeline within the alternate reality switches when Coop and Diane or "Richard and Linda" sleep together. When Coop leaves the hotel in the morning you can see everything has changed, he is now in the present day.
So he gets muddled, thinking that he is going to see Sarah Palmer at her house in a particular timeline, instead of which its years later and she is long gone. My take is that like everyone else that is used by the Fireman in the White Lodge, Copper is just playing his part in defeating Judy without having a full understanding of the overall goal, which was getting Laura Palmer to remember her alternate life.
The two below videos helped immensely in figuring out what happened, must admit I would have been pretty lost without them. Episode 18 in particular really threw me off balance!

and as a little funny bonus....

Overall season 3 was an absolute triumph in my opinion, it focussed on all the bits that I loved about the first two seasons, whilst expanding on it in ways that I would have never anticipated. I loved the fact that Judy was always the real antagonist despite only the hints of her existence and true nature. Also the real motivation of Bob and the White Lodge's manipulation of him only becoming apparent in the last cryptic episodes.
And holy shit I loved the Mitchum brothers...Gordon Cole's scenes were always a highlight too.

The story about their metting is very funny. They even made a animation about it with Lynch's narration.PC Engine Fan X! wrote: Fascinating to learn that Mr. Lynch almost got the "green-light" to direct Star Wars: Return of the Jedi -- that would've been interesting to see his personal take on all things within the Star Wars universe/mythos.
He would take many liberties and the Star Wars fanboys would be very pissed off. Good that he's not known as "the guy who destroyed star wars". Or I could be wrong, considering this was when David was still interested in linear narratives.
Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
On reflection, I must admit I think Dougie is a ridicule of husbands like me. My wife will talk and talk and I won't hear a thing. At the end I'll repeat the last few words she said and she goes away satisfied. At least she used to. She's on to me now.

Another "Sorry!" for making a tangential post.

That's crazy. I showed it to my gf to give her an idea of what she missed out on. No regrets apparently.

Read The Final Dossier. I give it a thumbs up. If you liked the show, then you'll probably like this. There's quite a few spoilers out on the interwebs. I was satsified with what it covered... which you can imagine doesn't make much definite, but it does shoot down a few theories.

Man, I finally finished watching the new show/season a couple of weeks ago. I just wish I weren't so late about it, would have loved to discussed it with other people as it were ongoing :\ I gotta admit I had never expected it to be this good, especially with the lukewarm welcome I noticed here and there.

Re: David Lynch-gasm: Twin Peaks The Return [SPOILERS GALORE
I actually still haven't posted my thoughts about the ending, nearly two months later! I can say that I thought about the final episodes non-stop for probably a week, maybe two. What a gut punch.
I did end up buying the soundtracks, as well as the two TP books: Secret History of Twin Peaks and Final Dossier. I read Final Dossier in an evening. While I enjoyed learning some things about the characters, did we really need a whole fucking chapter about Norma's mom??? Especially when you have so little written about Audrey, and nothing written about Bobby Briggs!
Secret History is a more "substantial" book, though I don't know how much of it is "canon" or relevant to the story... 150+ pages in, and there's an awful lot about UFOs which don't seem to mean anything at all. And it feels as if the book heavily follows Dougie Milford of all characters... Remember that one minor character, the brother of the mayor, who died fucking Lana (prime Robyn Lively, the lucky man) in Season 2 on their wedding night? Well he's pretty crucial to the plot of Twin Peaks it seems! My bitching aside, I might like it a little more than Final Dossier. The best parts, at least so far (less than halfway through) are the bits talking about Twin Peaks backstory stretching way back into the 19th century. Flipping ahead seems to have more info and story written about actual Twin Peaks characters - hope that's good.

To be fair, Dougie Milford was played by Tony Jay himself. He deserved more screentime than he got.

Here's a kickstarter worth mentioning in here. I've not contributed yet but am seriously mulling it over.

For one thing, the characters never say who was Laura's killer, so i guess The Return could be watched first, perhaps..
Maybe they watched with the japanese dub?
