I came across an old thread where this was touched upon, but I need an adapter for an Extron RGB 202rxi, which apparently uses the older EGA pinout orientation as opposed to the "newer" DB9 standard. The old thread just had one guy asking how to get such an adapter, and another poster incessantly saying "lol just make one". Problem is, I can't even find the materials for that. Every adapter or cable I had was un-modifiable, so to speak. The cable ends had to be completely destroyed to open them up, and even then, the pins and wires were encased in hardened plastic or silicone.
Can anyone point me to a 9-pin cable or adapter that I can actually open/build/modify without having to shred it to pieces?
DB9 to EGA adapter?

Not sure where you are located. This is easily openable. Just clip off the capacitor like components and you have a straight pin to pin connector. Replace one end with a standard db15 connector.
In my case I left both ends and put diodes in series to make a c64 joyport protector.

Re: DB9 to EGA adapter?
Extron RGB units automatically detect inputs and accept two input pin configurations.
Universal DB9 digital TTL/ECL mode pin assignment:
1 GND
2 red prime
3 red
4 green
5 blue
6 green prime
7 blue prime
8 Hsync
9 Vsync
Universal DB9 analog mode pin assignment:
1 GND
2 not used
3 red
4 green / SoG
5 blue
6 not used
7 not used
8 Hsync / Csync
9 Vsync
For reference, the TTL digital pin assignment is identical to standard IBM EGA/CGA.
