Well, they did the same thing with Ys Origin and Dragon's Trap, and people went nuts for those. Nowadays you don't even have to make limited releases, it's enough to just say they are.
I think all the LRG titles I've bought so far have been $29 at worst. That's really cheap for a new game. At least compared to any new PS4 game I've seen released over here, except from Matterfall.

I did. I picked up the game when it was on ridiculous sale digitally a while ago. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, and this was the perfect reason to grab it physically.
Boy they didn't even try to proofread this... the artbook is full of Engrish and typos. The first and third characters have the exact same comments by Suzuhito Yasuda.

I imagine it was like that in the Asian release, but come on, why even bother buying the US one then?

It is, I just checked.
Yep, they basically said 'yeah, that's what they gave us and that's what we used'.

the whole collector focused exclusivity marketing thing drives me nuts. don't buy it cause it's good, buy it cause it's raaaaaare and you'll be able to flip it later. is it like this because it's the only way to get people to buy physical games anymore, or do the people behind it really buy into it and think exclusivity is super cool

Why would that bother you? It's the reason many games are getting physical releases and it doesn't really affect you does it?

because I rarely buy stuff new and it screws up used prices when people think stuff is priceless collector item

I think you're a bit confused about the alternatives here. If they weren't sold as limited items, there wouldn't be enough demand to print up physical copies at all.

Yeah I'm aware of that, just personally don't like the limited marketing and wish it was more like the PS2 days where some games had small runs but they didn't really make a big deal out of it so people didn't immediately try to buy up all the stock and flip it. idk, I'm just bitter about how weird everything is now

The alternative in this instance is buying the Asian disc version of Caladrius Blaze with is near-identical to the LRG version, has been out for months and doesn't require you to deal with any of LRG's bullshit. Let's not pretend they're doing people a favour.

Let's also not pretend I was talking about only this game. I was talking about the practice of limited runs in general (as was the person I was replying to).
From what i understand The xbox 360 version was Caladrius. Then came the updated Caladrius blaze for ps3, Then we got PC and PS4 versions, now a PAL PS4 version. Which version is the one to get, and are there any versions which arent extortionate in cost, (maybe downloadable)?

As an EU citizen, I'd rather deal with LRG's bullshit than PA's.

Xbox 360 has version 1.10, which is essentially Caladrius Arcade's Original mode. This wasn't added to Blaze.
Blaze is better in every other way, so just get whichever version of it is available in your region. You can download it on PS4 for $8 at the moment (it's normally $30).
1.10 is crap imo, but 1.0 is interesting for being the most difficult version. Having played every version to an unhealthy extent, I'm seconding Blaze. PS4 and PS3 versions are of equal quality, but PS4 has easy streaming and video capture.
