Hi Guys,
First time posting here. I'm a bit of a tech newbie so please be kind!
I've been trying for a while to find a solution to run multiple consoles on my Microvitec vga crt monitor. The solution I found thats been working really well is RGB -> Framemiester -> HDMI to VGA convertor -> CRT Monitor
Is there anyway this could damage the monitor? The picture is amazing and its the perfect size for shmups but I did notice after a long Tatsujin session that the monitor was pretty warm. I didn't remember it getting that warm when I use my X68000 on it. It could be me being paranoid / not checking the heat after X68000 sessions.
Thought I'd ask you chaps if you had an insight into if I'm killing my lovely monitor or maybe it just needs a service?
Thanks
Nick

Where are you located? If you're in the northern hemisphere, it may just be due to the summer.
This summer was brutal over here, to the point that I could't play more than like twenty minutes without making the monitor (and myself) approach melting point.

If you aren't using the mini on other displays it might be a good idea to sell it and get something with VGA out like a 2 or a 3. 3 being more versatile but also more costly than a 2.

Re: VGA Monitor question when using HDMI to VGA
Hi,
Thanks for your replies
I did test the monitor yesterday first with the X68k and then with a Marty through the mini and it didn't seem to get as warm. I guess it's a case of "monitoring" it!
I have looked online and see a couple of apposing points of view on if higher refresh rates cause monitors to heat up more but no one has the definitive answer. Is there a way to know what rate is going into the monitor? I guess its 60khz if the mini is outputing 720p at 60?
Thanks
Nick

I live in London, I guess it was kinda warm that day but not quite shorts weather!Xer Xian wrote:Where are you located? If you're in the northern hemisphere, it may just be due to the summer.

I was considering a XRGB3 but all my RGB cables are EuroScart which I understand would fry the input? I've just found that mini doesn't play too well with my TV, somethings always been kinda "off", the scanlines also never look very good at all. I know it's capable but I think my TV is at fault.Steamflogger Boss wrote:If you aren't using the mini on other displays it might be a good idea to sell it and get something with VGA out like a 2 or a 3. 3 being more versatile but also more costly than a 2.
