This is what I'm referring to. Some boards that have been desuicided in the past have just had the c-board replaced with a SFII-CE c-board. One that has a CPS-B-21 chip, but never had encryption keys or a suicide battery. Could you safely add a battery and upload the encryption to this type of c-board, or will you damage the chip?

My King of Dragons has original roms and is genuine, but when I bought it, it had already been desuicided and I think it has a SFIICE c-board.

I'm not an expert regarding the many variations of the C boards and the Capcom custom, but if you look at this chart:

http://www.arcadecollecting.com/info/cps-b_numbers.html

you'll see this confirms what you say, in other words that both SFIIHF and SFIICE use the CPS-B-21 custom without a suicide battery, but King of Dragons DOES use a suicide battery with the same chip.

Unfortunately I don't have a suitable SFII C board to study, but I would ASSUME that the custom chip may be wired slightly differently on the battery-less SFII C boards. If so then it may be a simple matter of making (or breaking) a connection or two. It could be wired the same as a modified C board, which would of course make perfect sense.

Maybe someone else with more knowledge on this matter can chip in. I would certainly find it interesting to look into it if I had a suitable KoD boardset and the aforementioned SFII C board.
