I don't know exactly what are you meaning but my SMS is working fine with the lite....
Are you using a C-sync RGB cable? And do you have sync regen turned on on the lite?

eric90000 wrote:I'm having a strange gscart lite issue when sync regeneration is switched on while using a Master System 1 (connected to an OSSC). The console has Arcade TV's THS7314 bypass board installed. I'm using a stock Genesis/MS cable from retrogamingcables.co.uk (it has 470ohm resistor and 220uF cap on Csync line). Resistors and capacitors on the bypass board have been removed for RGBS lines as these are in the cable SCART end.

With sync regen on, the OSSC only accepts the signal sometimes, other times it freaks out and won't sync. With sync regen turned off, or connected directly to OSSC it works fine every boot. Sync regen works with all my other consoles, it's only this SMS that's giving me trouble.

Here's a quick video I took with sync regeneration on, if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FwqSZhX6-A

Any ideas?
In my case the sync regeneration has to be enabled for my stock SMS1.
Why do you have THS7314 installed there? What I see here is that RGB on stock SMS1 is standard, only sync line has issues.
EDIT: I primarily use XRGB-Mini which needed sync regen for SMS1
On my testing PVM it works both with and without sync regen

hum.. I don't know exactly, I use the original SMS cable to the lite (with sync off), that's all. Don't know if it's helping :/

It had the RGB bypass done to get rid of jailbars I believe, I bought it pre-modded. Looks like the board routes csync directly from pin 29 of the Sega 315-5124 VDP, to the Csync input on the board. It then passes through a 220uF cap and 75ohm resistor (both of which I have removed as these are in my SCART cable) and is connected directly to pin 6 of the multi-out. So essentially, csync from the VDP is connected directly to the sync pin on the multi-out.

So csync doesn't go through THS7314, only RGB?

Yeah as far as I can tell...here is a pic of the Arcade TV RGB bypass board.

"CSI" pad is csync in from VDP pin 29. "CSO" pad is csync out directly to pin 1 on multi-out. The 220uF cap and 75ohm resistor on the sync line have been removed and pads shorted together on my board. It was my understanding that because I have a 220uF cap and 470ohm resistor in SCART end, these are not necessary...

This board might be the reason why it's not being forwarded with sync regeneration on. A quick test would be to borrow stock SMS1 from somewhere else and to try it (I don't remember having jailbars issues with mine)

Just wanted to leave some feedback: I bought a gscartsw_lite and a gcompsw and they both work wonderfully so far! I love them both, so thank you so much for making a wonderful product!

So far, the one thing I wish was different is I wish I had like one more input and one more output on the gcompsw.

But other than that, it's been smooth sailing. <3

I was thinking if he were to make a deluxe expanded version, it should be 6 inputs and 2 outputs so everything is symmetrical. Because you know, my OCD likes that. :-P

Just use some compressed air to clean it

superg, do you know when additional gscartsw / gscardsw_lites will go on sale or preorder? I managed to pick up a PVM-20M2MDU locally and want to start going down the RGB rabbit hole.

I agree... along with a way to use a single power adapter for both a gscartsw_lite and the gcompsw; power plug space is an issue in a lot of setups and from what I've read a single power adapter should be able to power two switches.

Actually... I'm trying to think of the number of component consoles that might require space; there's the original Xbox, Sony PSP, potentially the PS2, Nintendo Wii; I think other modern consoles all provided HDMI options too (except the original Xbox 360 models)?

The HD Retrovision cables for SNES and Genesis, and Gamecube with component out.

Doh! Of course the GameCube, thanks! The others I'd prefer connected via SCART. Goes to show though that even a potential 6 inputs might not do it; 8 would match the SCART boxes.

I think Viletim's 2600RGB mod can be made to work with component too.

You can use a barrel plug splitter. I have. 9v3a supply powering the gcompsw, gscart_lite, gscartsw 3.4, Garo, and Kenzei boxes in my setup. Works great.

This works just fine with my SMS1. I run it through the lite with no issues with sync regen on. I have the 75ohm resistors removed and shorted and caps removed and shorted. Using a standard genesis cable from retro console accessories.

That's interesting...you hardly have a picture of your install? Do you know what components are in the csync RGB cable? Whenever I turn sync regen on the OSSC freaks out and wont sync prob 8/10 times.

Here's a picture of my actual board in the console (I've circled in red where resistors have been cut, and where the pins on the Sony encoder have been cut):

These traces underneath the multi-out have been severed:

There's also this wire connecting 2 of the chips, I'm not too sure what it's doing? (it's a single conductor cable with a ground shield).

Just to make sure: you're using SMS1 with OSSC, right?
(maybe OSSC freaks out after all)

Crazy timing with that post, I literally just finished testing this. Im 90% sure it's the OSSC to blame for not liking like the sync regenerated signal from SMS1 (with arcadeTV bypass).

I tested it on a little consumer RGB SCART CRT and it happily accepts both sync regeneration on and off. I really don't think this is a SMS fault or a gscartsw_lite fault!

Sorry for clogging up the thread with this SuperG. I'll post over on the OSSC forum and see what I can dig up.

P. S Mobiusstriptech only tested his SMS with Framemeister and CRT, not OSSC. maybe I'm the first to encounter this issue?

Ok, so it looks like everybody got their unit, I will be assembling and testing extras this week.
Hope to have everything ready early next week. I will post here a few days before about the day and time when I'll open the orders.

Is this just gscartsw_lite or will you have some gcompsw as well?

I just discovered your product via the My Life In Gaming channel on YouTube. It sounds amazing, and I'm looking forward to the next pre-order badge of the lite.

In the MLiG video, they mentioned that a toggle for the THS7374 amp was being considered. Has one been implemented in the recent revisions?
