What i really want to know is how good is the hori arcade stick!? Also how good is the the cheap knock off arcade stick by 8bitdo!
Anyone given either a try with strikers or measured the lag?

Considering that the Switch joy-cons & the Switch Pro Controller are Bluetooth 4.0 spec, the Hori Switch RAP Pro V is BT 4.0 compliant as well.
Yes, you can use a Switch Pro Controller with tate'd S-1945.
It's not doable to use a Switch Pro Controller with Zero Div's port of Gunbarich (even though there's tate option but no controller "rotate" option whatsoever -- unless a proper update to remedy this pressing issue at hand, it remains unresolved). You can't even use a Switch Pro Controller with Gunbarich even if it's played in yoko format as well (despite the USA Switch page of GB saying that it's compatible with it from the get-go). So you're basically stuck with using the Joy-cons at best.

If you rotate the screen it rotates the controls automatically for me. Also pro controller works fine.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Considering that the Switch joy-cons & the Switch Pro Controller are Bluetooth 4.0 spec, the Hori Switch RAP Pro V is BT 4.0 compliant as well.

I guess if the Switch Pro Controller is almost running out of juice, it won't sync well with said Switch and/or games. A message will appear on the Switch telling the user that the internal lithium-ion battery is running low & to recharge it.

HORI makes a stand that I picked up last week once the Psikyo games came out, US MSRP is $12.99. Folds up nicely when not in use, has several different heights. It's pretty nice!Keres wrote:I'm pretty sure you can do that. You'd just need to figure out some way to stand it upright.guigui wrote:How does TATE work when Switch not plugged on TV ?
Is it possible to use the pro controller when not plugged on TV, and just set the Switch screen on my table ?

Gunbarich had a standard joystick in arcade? It looks like it plays similar to paddle games like Arkanoid, but doesn't use paddles? I know some paddle games actually play better with motion controls than analog pad or d-pad. Cutie Q in Namco Museum Megamix Wii uses WiiMote controls and they work great.

If you have a Wii U then just use the gamepad stand to put the switch in tate. That's what I'm doing in the video.
Re: Strikers 1945 1 coming to Switch
Playing tated screen in table mode is really a nice feature.
Today I tried to play docked in a 23" monitor and game suffers from tearing in 1080p and 720p, yoko and even tated screen.. I wanted to try 480p mode but even having option it don't allows me to change to it.
Altough I love real arcade monitor scanlines, the 2 filters look really blurry, even with scanlines.. and for me it's better to leave the raw pixels

In controller news: I've bought the hori arcade stick and the hori pro pad I'll give my opinions once they've arrived and had a jolly good testing!

Re: Strikers 1945 1 coming to Switch
Putting your Switch in tate mode is nice and all, but isn't the effect pretty much mitigated by the awfully tiny screen? I don't know if I'd be able to play a shoot with such a small view.
Re: Strikers 1945 1 coming to Switch
Sumez Well, I am used to play "on the go" with a Ps Vita, so the Switch screen in tate is an improvement. Considering the console screen is not far than 30-50cm of you it is really playable and enjoyable. Of course it isn't great if you want to play intensively or going for hi-scores.

But if you're placing it vertically on a stand in front of you, it's gonna be a bit further away, I'd assume?

Yes, the actual Psikyo produced Gunbarich pcb uses an 8-way digital joystick scheme -- it plays quite well despite not using a dedicated arcade rotary spinner control scheme (that'd be much better imho, control-wise). You have to give Psikyo credit for fine tuning controls until it hit the "sweet spot" in going with a digital joystick setup with the arcade pcb of Gunbarich. There are some stages where using your paddle to move up & down is necessary/crucial to get further into the later stages. I do have the actual Gunbarich pcb myself and it's quite a solid arcade pcb title worth owning/playing indeed.BrianC wrote:Gunbarich had a standard joystick in arcade? Am glad to see Gunbarich running on the ol' Switch platform.
Another cool Arkanoid type of arcade puzzler is none other than Atari Games' Off the Wall arcade pcb (with support of up-to three players simultaneously during a serious gaming session) that allows the use of either an 8-way joystick scheme or even a dedicated arcade rotary spinner setup. It does play much better with a dedicated arcade spinner setup if you want to advance to the higher waves like 100 and beyond. Playing Off the Wall pcb with a joystick is quite limited as you won't be able to advance to the higher waves (with the default paddle speed setting).

Re: Strikers 1945 1 coming to Switch
Today I tried to play in a 4:3 tated LCD, and changed output to 480p to try if resolution was close or nearly the original x4.. but image in tate mode is stretched horizontal to something like 3:3 aspect ratio.. in yoko mode and monitor in normal position, resolution seems to be even more squeezed than 16:9
Monitor says all the time is showing 1280x1024..
Anybody tried it? Is there any list of switch output allowed resolutions?

Gunbarich used an 8-way joystick originally, there's no paddle version.BrianC wrote:Gunbarich had a standard joystick in arcade? It looks like it plays similar to paddle games like Arkanoid, but doesn't use paddles?

Awesome. They answered my plea. Screen rotation can now be adjusted 90° instead of just "portrait". Controls can be rotated to match your screen orientation, but it seems you're still stuck using both JoyCon. Wish it would let you play holding it like a Game Boy. The game now shows up in your profile, too. That's all I've noticed.
