Wish I could... but I'm far from the most knowledgeable here, and definitely don't have the connections necessary. I could dig up a few people I'm sure, but even then, scoring interviews is hard, programmers from the 80s and 90s aren't known for being super chatty or even easy to follow, and of course, there's the time and devotion involved to make a full production. I can take a decent photo, but not put together a video.

I like to throw out an interview translation here and there (or did, anyway) and let people piece together a small portion of shooter history. That's about all I can offer I'm afraid, and other people seem to have taken up the reigns in that respect anyway!

Perhaps a central repository website or something like that where everyone could dump their various bits and bobs?

New section on Gamengai?

I saw this yesterday. JAPJAC made it sound awful, but I thought it was alright. The stilted voice of the narrator was kind of annoying and it was clearly geared towards someone who doesn't know anything about Japanese arcades, but so it goes. Was it advertised to backers that it would be way more in-depth or something? Then I might be a little let-down I guess. It surely could have been better/deeper, but it was at least cool to see GaijinPunch and hear Clover-TAC talk.

Nope.

Anyway, as mentioned before I helped out with the music game section and was with them during that part of the filming. The majority of the interview footage that was taken was never used, which is kind of a shame but understandable considering the time restraints. Aaron and his crew actually made a big deal about the decline of arcades which was completely ignored in the final product. Yeah, they kind of mention the decline of the arcades, but then immediately moved to a more positive note, saying how they're adapting and only the shitty arcades are closing. There's some guy who says you never hear about at Taito or Sega arcade closing, and that they just built a new one in Akihabara. Making the huge mistake of assuming Tokyo (and Aki of all places) is a good view of the country. Hell, just a few years ago wasn't there a big news story about Namco and Sega closing a bunch of arcades down? I know several Namco and Taito spots in Tokyo that have closed down in the past few years, along with countless ones outside of the prefecture. Aaron always talks about how when he used to live in Matsumoto there were tons of them, but now only a couple still exist and they're all near the main station. When I lived in Kanazawa there were also plenty of great places to visit with good communities, now I can only think of a couple that still survive. Hell, the Taito Station in Kanazawa moved all of the games to the basement and filled the other floors with UFO and purikura.

We also talked a lot how the industry is also in an "arms race" of sorts, with bigger and more expensive games coming out that the smaller arcades just can't afford anymore. Add to that network fees and newer games actually taking a percentage of income and you can see that things aren't looking good for anything but the big players.

Overall I found the movie to cater to the stereotype westerners have about Japan being the land of game with arcades on every block, which I guess is what people want to see so whatever.

At least where necessary. If not, just sue them.

Isn't that how any film works?

I know of two Sega ones that shut down, but they were admittedly kinda boring. Most of the ones, as you said (and I snipped) that were shut down were out in the sticks. Whether that's fair to exclude them or not is probably beyond the scope of a bunch of geeks in an intarwebz forum. It's a Tokyo-based country in just about every respect, and becomes more so, even as the population declines.

Eh, I definitely don't agree with that. Tokyo is obviously important and most people associate it with Japan, but I've never liked the idea that people don't even think about the rest of the country. If you want to talk about Tokyo arcades, then fine, but the documentary is supposed to be about the overall arcade scene in Japan, which is suffering greatly with all of the smaller places are being killed off in favor of megacenters like Round One.

The numbers do though. What is it -- 25% of the entire country lives in Kanto? Maybe more? Another huge percentage around Osaka. The dispersion of the population is a huge social and economical problem (Earth-shattering Earthquake + Tsunami in Tokyo, anyone?). Worse, while the country's population declines, Tokyo's population at least stays stagnant, if not grows. So not only is it Japan-based, it becomes more so over time.

The 100 Yen documentary was shown in it's entirety at the 2013 CAX show on Sunday afternoon (right around the time for the grand prize drawing). The catch was the winning raffle ticket winner had to be present to claim it, otherwise another raffle ticket number would be drawn. At the 2012 CAX grand prize drawing, the first winning ticket didn't bother to step forward, so another one was drawn and it just so happened that a CAX staff member ended up winning it. WTF!?
